Seriously, I was cleaning up today and realized I didn't know where his voter registration card was. So I went around the house and found that, found his passport for his ID (I don't want them questioning his Virginia driver's license, we just moved down here from Virginia about 6 weeks ago). I got all sorts of Democratic party voting guides and the local district voting guide when I went to early vote, so I put all those together. I added in the letter from the county office saying he'll need to provide residency with a bill or statement to our address, and a copy of our bank statement to our address.

Then I secured it all with a binder clip for when he gets home tonight (he's been in Virginia all week visiting some relatives).

Can you tell I'm a little pent up with nervous energy? Mr. Southpaw ain't coming home Tuesday night without an "I Voted!" sticker...

Now that you mention it, I'm thinking of going down and writing 800-OUR-VOTE on the guides in marker in case anything happens. We're both registered Democrats and while I experienced no problems voting, I also never got the letter saying I'd need a bill or something, but he did...

I don't think neurotic is the correct word for either of us.

Pragmatic with a small dose of well deserved paranoia based on news from around the U.S.

I had my driver's license, passport, a utility bill and my sample ballot which I had duly read, researched and marked. I also wore my Kerry/Edwards button which no one asked me to remove. I also had the entire day set aside for voting in case it took a long time. It didn't.

edited to add: I also had a hard copy of my registration information from the county web page showing I was registered and I took along my attitude of "f*%$k with me and bleed" just to be on the safe side.

5. Hey, just cuz you're paranoid

doesn't mean they aren't out to steal your vote.

Take every precaution.

When I voted on Thus, I voted at the downtown Board of Elections office, I had my driver's license, my state employee ID, and my voter registration with me, and even though we are using the same mark and scan ballots that we've used for years, I took time to read every instruction once before marking a single vote, then read each individual one as I marked the ballot, then read the entire sheet again after it was marked before inserting it in the hopper.

Yeah, I'm paranoid too.

I applaud you! Clap clap clap! GOTV should always start with those closest to us. My husband voted Friday and made sure to wake me early on Saturday so I could get to the polls. We're both taking off Tuesday to drive voters and he wanted to make sure I didn't get stuck in a three hour line. I also told my office staff to go vote on Monday and I would cover their phones and their asses while they were gone.
