sorry if dupe - please delete - but I just saw this.

http://www.thederrick.com/stories/10302004-6002.shtml

Venango County's tardiness in sending out absentee ballots to military personnel and others overseas has led to a court-approved settlement that will affect all 67 Pennsylvania counties in Tuesday's election.

On Friday morning, attorneys representing two servicemen deployed overseas, Gov. Ed Rendell and Pedro Cortes, the Pennsylvania Secretary of State, agreed to extend the deadline to receive absentee ballots from overseas.

The new deadline for the federal races will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10.

So -- does this mean that PA can't be officially called until Nov. 10??

1. Freaky.
This might actually be meaningful. If the election is close, the military overseas vote could tip it in Bush's favor. Let's hope it's not even close.

3. It may not matter.
Of all overseas votes that come in, some, not all, will go for Bush. Those votes have to add up to more than the difference between Kerry and Bush. Though there may be a lot of overseas Pennsylvanians, my guess is that there would have to be a huge number of their absentee ballots, with a large percentage of them for Bush, to offset a modest Kerry win in the regular vote.
