Got up early for some reason and flipping through the channels found a half hour version of Stolen Honor on PAX, paid for by NEWSMAX. It wasn't even listed on the cable listings, just "paid presentation" and followed by a PAX disclaimer.
All that being said, I watched it.
What a sad, sad story. I was watching all these guys (well, four or five) all of whom had been POW's for five or six years in North Vietnam, and their sincere anger with Kerry AND the anti-war movement AND the way they were un-welcomed home upon their return. It was really sad.
They really don't beleive anything Winter Soldier brought out and that is easy to understand. A whole lot of that stuff took place while they were in prison, and I don't think any of them were grunts in the first place. All seem to have been officers, and I think most of them were Air Force to begin with. So, what they were talking about were things that they wouldn't have come into contact with in the first place. Not a lot of pilots at My Lai.
The real shame, the real stolen honor, can be traced to the GOPuke operatives that supported and encouraged this stuff. Seeing these men be used by the cynical manipulators of the right wing is really, really sad.
