I had a dream -- true story. Please share if you think it will help.
Please send this to any undecideds or Bush-leaning voters you know.

I am a Kerry Democrat, and I had a dream last night. An actual, what-happens-when-you’re-asleep type dream.

This is what happened…

Somehow, I found myself in a Southern Bible-Belt meeting center of some sort. I began addressing a group of people, most of whom were openly dismissive of my point of view, but they were good enough not to throw me out.

This is what I said to them:

I do not disrespect your values, which are rooted in noble things, like love of family and support for our soldiers. I do not mock your conservatism or Christian values, even if I am not a believer in religion, because I share your regard for prudence and charity.

The Republican Party has preyed upon your values by invoking all of the symbolism of what matters to you, while consistently taking the country completely away from those values.

In this campaign, there is only one choice for you.

Vote for the war hero, not for the draft dodger.
Vote for the candidate who truly supports our troops because he understands what it means to send them in harm’s way – and how devilishly cruel it is to send them to kill and die for a mistake.
Vote for the candidate who wants to help the meek and the downtrodden, who understands the Bible passage about the camel and the eye of the needle.
Vote for the candidate who respects civility, not the one whose running mate utters profanities in the halls of Congress.
Vote for the conservative candidate who values balancing the budget, not the spendthrift who’s ringing up record deficits.
This Tuesday, vote for John Forbes Kerry

I woke up not knowing whether they listened.

1. Anyone who truly cares about this country
would accept your points as the truth and the right way to go. Alas, the diehard right-wing morons are blinded by their zealotry and only care about winning, regardless of what is best for this country or the world.

3. I think the point of the dream...
Is that if, somehow, we could break through all the powerful GOP messaging, that many Bush supporters would agree with us. But (how) can that ever happen?

Unfortunately, like all of us, I woke back up into a reality where the message-manipulators may be winning. I wish that I knew that this thing was going to have a happy ending, and that America's pride can be restored....

4. Also, it's not just about morons and zealotry
I'm extremely hard on the morons and zealots (see my short movie: www.bushfocusgroup.com).

But I think much of the problem is that fundamentally decent people are being exploited by spin doctors who masterfully play on their hopes and fears (especially the fears).

It always comes back to de Tocqueville's observation that people prefer a simple lie to a complex truth. The right-wingers know the most convincing lies to tell and shamelessly tell them.

2. What a dream!
"Undecideds" might listen, but not those who dismissed you beforehand imo....
