Heidi II: Miami station cuts from Michigan/Mich St OT for Stolen Honor
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 01:03 AM by AwsieDooger
I found this summary at the bottom of a story in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel:

"And as the campaign draws to a close, callers flooded the customer service phone lines at WPLG-Ch. 10 Saturday night after the station aired a half-hour block of Stolen Honor, a documentary attacking Kerry's service in Vietnam and his conduct after he returned from that war. Station Vice President and General Manager Dave Boylan said Newton Media, a Virginia-based company, bought three half-hour blocks to air portions of the documentary before the election.

"We sell time to people looking to get their message to the public," said Boylan.

The documentary interrupted a Michigan vs. Michigan State college football game that was tied, 37-37, and about to go into overtime."

Here is WPLG's main website. It is an ABC affiliate. I couldn't find a contact link at first glance. Maybe some one can take a closer look: http://www.local10.com/index.html

On edit: here is the contact link. It includes phone numbers, address and email: http://www.local10.com/contact/index.html

BTW, at 37-37 that game was headed into the THIRD overtime, which really must have pissed off viewers who had watched throughout.

5. Damn, that means they hooked a lot
of viewers who were staring at the TV waiting for the next Touch Down. I'm sure they stared at the TV for a while in denial that thier game had been preempted.

Dirty pool

With their usual sensitivity, the Republicans have alienated their last friends.

9. OK, it's one thing to sell infomercial space to these idiots...
It's another thing to preempt regular programming for them! God these stations are so stupid, they just don't know what they're unleashing.

11. I should have mentioned that; Michigan won 45-37
In the 3rd overtime. WPLG could have spared the grief by delaying the propoganda crap 10 minutes.
