Though y'all would get a charge out of this. Mr. Nownow and I were driving home from a friend's house north of town tonight, coming south through Oakwood -- it's kind of a snooty suburb between where we live and the city of Dayton, the kind of place where you pay 25% more for a house a block north than you would farther south because it's 'in the city of Oakwood.'
The Boosh and Kerry yard signs seem to hold a rough parity along the main drag.
This was on a hill, where there are houses and apartments on one side of the street and the grade drops away off a guard-rail on the other. We saw a cluster of Christmas lights, and we kept going -- then Mr. Nownow said, "wait a minute -- was that what I think it was?" He turned around and we came back past it more slowly. "I thought that was a Kerry stand-up," he said.
Someone has a wooden scaffold cinched under the guard-rail with a John Kerry standup mounted on it. There are Christmas lights around the standup, and there's a garden hose water fountain mounted to the scaffold underneath.
We went home for the camera and came back to take some pictures of it. The woman who'd set it up shouted up at us from the back door of her house that she'd seen us on her surveillance camera, and we'd better not be planning to steal it. There was enough traffic it took two or three tries for us to get the gist of what she was saying. We shouted back to her that we were on her side and only wanted some pictures, and that we didn't blame her!
So, anyway, here it is. Enjoy -- we did!
