The only Place that is still playing it Big is Fox news. Breaking late Friday an election just days away is good.

Fox news is so hoping for a Bush win

1. I'm getting the same impression
For each person who will see this as a reason to run back to their Great Leader, there is one who will see it as another proof of Bush's ineptness.

I'm thinking that the only measurable hurt will be the fact that it knocked all of the other stories devastating to Bush off the news for a while.

3. Kerry is up in the polls.
It reminded people that * totally failed in catching bin ladin. It also reflects well on Kerrys position that * outsourced the job to afghan warlords.

6. It'll be at least Monday before we have any idea...
...how the OBL tape will reflect in the polls.

15. That's my thought too.
I don't recall a time where some newsworthy event happened and I didn't have a gut instinct as to what the general impact would be (i.e., which candidate would benefit). OBL's tape is the first one ever on that score. I really think it could go either way, but I'm now thinking it will not be as big a deal as it first appeared.

I am still wondering what it will do in the polls, though. Like you said, it probably won't show up there until Monday at the earliest.

2. It's likely a wash
but did serve to save Bush from getting pounded all weekend on the missing explosives story

A father being interviewed locally (forget channel) after the tape was aired.

when they saw the tape, and what they'll be doing.

16. As someone who's husband was downtown on 9-11
and who couldn't get in touch with him for hours (he had clients in the world trade center, but not meetings there that day), I beg to differ. My husband was on the street when the 2nd building went down and when he finally got home, he looked like someone hosed hi down and rolled him in chalk. He still suffers from a form of post traumatic stress, and literally shuts down if anyone starts talking about 9/11 or he sees images on TV of the buildings. OBL terrifies me, at a gut level. Not proud of it, but I admit it.

That said, our first reaction was "why isn't that man dead?" and, although we were Kerry supporters from the beginning (well, from when after Clark dropped out), now we are angry Kerry supporters. I feel betrayed by the current president, who put his own political agenda and family issues ahead of our safety. Once, on 9/11, was bad enough. But an additional attack would guarentee Bush a very special place in hell.

13. If This Was Part of the Bush Campaign Plan
it failed. They're pulling all the levers, but nothing's happening. A shrinking number of Americans are gullible automatons.

too many times with nothing happening afterward for me to be afraid. And I say that as a New Yorker.

20. Wanted Dead or Alive
If you remember the 1980 election Carter went in the final weekend up about 6. That weekend also happened to be the anniversary of the Iranian Hostages being taken in the embassy. Some of my Democratic friends at the time thought that would remind people to rally around their President. I did not. I thought it would kill Carter and history shows it did. How will this tape be viewed? I do not know but what I do know is we need to remind people however possible that Bush Four years ago promised Bin Laden would be captured dead or alive. He then later said well he wasn't that worried about Bin Laden because he was marginalized on the run and hiding. I have posted the following to several sites and the freepers are going nuts. Spread it all you want:

Should anything Usama Bin Laden said in that tape change anyone's mind? Hell no! Should knowing that the greatest mass murderer ever to hit America is still alive change minds? Hell yes

Bush promised us all after 9/11 he would get Usama Bin Laden, "DEAD OR ALIVE"

Here is what BUSH said about Usama on March 14, 2002 and no this is not one of those "EXAGGERATIONS"

"Terror is bigger than one person," Bush said March 14, 2002. "He's a person that's now been marginalized." The president said bin Laden had "met his match" and "may even be dead," and added: "I truly am not that concerned about him."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A62618-2002Apr16?language=printer

Usama did not look real winded from all that running and hiding. Usama did not look real marginalized. Do not tell the citizens of Madrid he is. Looks like that cave Usama is hiding in has a pretty good podium with it.
