I'm a poltical junkie. I have no goddamn idea what this OBL tapes thing is. I called down to hubbie watching the news. He has no idea. Talked to 35 year old daugher minutes ago...she has no goddamn idea. I know you think this is one of these "earthshakinggonnadecidetheelection" moments. So just so I'm not blindsided by this huge moment in American history..could you tell me what this earth-shattering new is. (Sorry, toots, ain't nothing going to save either of these campaigns now short of a bunch of Americans getting blown up a la 9/11---nothing nailed Bush to date and nothing is going to-----no more excuses for you to sit on your ass and wish for miracles). So...please fill me in on this non-earth shaking non story..Thanks.

I saw of the "news" was around 3 this afternoon. They certainly had nothing then because we were on everything form Haloween masks to god knows what. So when did this break. What is it about. Geeeee, if someone isn't on here 24/7 then they are trying to discredit DU. For Christ's sake I didn't say this story (whatever the fuck it is) isn't true. I just said I did not hear anthing about it. So what is this 'election stopping' moment. You give cute little snipes but not a one of you either explains or gives a link to the original story. And I guess it must have broken sometime today after about 1:30 because that's the last time I checked here.

There are discussions about this but not an explanation of what this story was about?? I just want to know what is the story. Why can't just one of you tell me?? I see all sorts of things about whether this effects the election, etc. but first one needs to know what this is about. Like I said, last time I was on was about 1:30 and nothing then. This is not something dominating the conciousness of the people of the country, and probably will not be so over the weekend. It is a holiday weekend, after all, and there will be a good deal to do and enjoy. Only a vanishingly small proportion of the people have not made up their minds already how to vote, and this is not likely to alter many, or cause many to at last decide. And even among those, it is likely many will be repelled by the reminder Bin Laden remains at large and alive, and conclude the posturing cowboy really has not done such a good job where avenging the 9/11 attacks is concerned....
