18. The story that broke Bush*'s back

Having broken with his tradition of not responding to any opposition, Bush* criticized Kerry for his Monday morning quarterbacking. Then the administration worked to deluge the media with the idea that the ammunition went missing before the US arrived. (The "Saddam Did It!" Scenario)

Problem: if evidence arrises that shows that the ammunition DID disappear after the US arrived, Bush*'s response implies that this would be bad...even a mistake. By giving veracity to the notion that Saddam did it before the US got there, he reinfoced the fact that, if the US already arrived before the ammunition disappeard, this is a bad mistake on the part of the US and Bush*.

As far as this story is concerned, Bush* must now come up with a completely different response to repair the damage from his last response.

I think I can safely assert now that Karl Rove is not a political genius, but a political idiot. He ran a poor campaign last time, especially in the last weeks. He is doing the same again. The only thing he does well is control (i.e. stop the spread of) information.
