I believe that George W. Bush and his cronies are the biggest danger to the world since Adolph Hitler ruled Europe.

If a sports figure, especially a sports figure who is on National Television after winning a National Championship uses that moment to encourage people to vote for that Mother Fucker Bush, I say he's fucking fair game and should be ridiculed for eternity.

I don't care who the fuck he is or what the fuck he has accomplished.

4. Sports Hero? WTF is that?
You've found the right audience with me, pal! I have never given a flying f*** about jocks. They are not the heroes this materialistic, superficial society make them out to be. They are just born lucky, exactly like Bush!

7. Metaphor....
It just seems that some look the other way when it comes to athletes especially athletes who've helped your team... It's kind of like Hero worshipping in my mind.

13. And I believe you are a little out there
I think Bush has been a supremely bad President and is establishing very dangerous policies. But the people that compare him to Hitler are on the edge to begin with and it's not a surprise that a baseball player could send them teetering into the abyss.

give junior another four years, and see if a comparison isn't justified. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was Syracuse.

14. I don't like Schilling pushing his personal preference publicly, but
I suspect that there is just as big a split between pro sport players on Bush v. Kerry as there is in the general population. So what? Are we going to require political litmus tests from these people? I hope not.

Anyway, in Schlling's case, he's a big fundraiser for ALS which is something far more important to me (than his preference on Presidents). It is odd that he'd support someone who limits stem cell research that is a very key medical tool needed for finding a cause and cure of ALS.

15. Completely agree, and I'm not a selective hypocrite
As a Miami Hurricane fan, I was thrilled when Butch Davis departed after the 2000 season, two months after publicly endorsing Bush with a couple of jackass comments. Great riddance and congratulations on your ongoing mediocrity, Cleveland Browns.

16. The Buckeyes went in the tank as soon
as tressal came out for Bush...

Most people I know don't think much about sports hero's who aren't shilling for something all the time....

Now BAseball Palyers have always tended to be more consrvative, they come mostly from the suburbs and small towns. Basketball palyers tend to be more democratic and are more identifiable because of their endorsements..

Now if Omar Vixquel here in Cleveland endorsed Bush

Or if LeBron James endorsed Kerry, It think that would be a different story all together.

But Shilling? Outside of Boston, Kerry country who really cares....

The people of Arizona are probably pissed off that he's no longer with the team....

Phillie Fans are probably pissed off that he left their team...

I remember Sandy Alomar refusing to shake Clinton's hand when he threw out the first pitch at Jaocobs field back in 1994 because he wouldn't shake hands with the man who raised his taxes....

So, that's probably why Shilling is for Bush, he cut his taxes so he gets to keep more of his money.......

With Bruse, he is identifiable across the board, that is something...

My question to them is, why do they put their pocketbooks first before their own country?

Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 04:41 PM by trumad
loses credibility.

On edit: That was a little harsh because I see you working Will... You're right in your defense of Shill to a point..... But you gotta admit you're defending the guy cause he's your guy.

Now with that said...he's big time fair game for using a sports interview to promote a guy who in my mind will become as dangerous as errrr Hitler if he is reelected.

25. He chose money, celebs endorsing Kerry obviously have not.
He is doing as rich people do, protecting his own interests and to hell with everyone else. I guess that's why I have more respect for people who are rich (Affleck, Dixie Chicks, etc.) and willing to put the good of the nation before their own pocketbook.

I'm not going to boycott anyone, but then Im not a baseball fan. I think he's an idiot just as if I saw someone banging their head against the wall I would think something was not quite right with them either.
