Oops. I think I just made a young Democrat.
My son has a very close friend who has been visiting us and spending weekends with us. Both are 10 years old. For some reason, my kid's friend adores me--I do lots of fun stuff with them that he doesn't get to do at home.

Both of his parents support Bush. He's an open-minded little guy, and he asked me why I didn't like Bush, and what I like about Kerry.

Well, I tried to answer his question in a manner that wouldn't upset his parents. I told him that I don't like the war, and even a soldier who went to his and my son's school had died, and I think Kerry would be better at getting us help around the world to fight the war so that we don't have to send more soldiers.

Well that was all it took. He went home, told his mom and dad that he's a Democrat, and that he is for Kerry. My son told me that, at school, where my son used to be the lone Kerry defender in his class, now his buddy is speaking up for Kerry.

I am friend with his parents. They haven't brought it up with me, but I know they've noticed it. I think I accidently made a future Democratic leader. If he goes on to do great things, I will of course claim credit. :-)

1. That's a relief. I thought you were going to give baby making details.

4. That comment reminded me of my cousin's daughter
when my cousin was pregnant with baby #3, her daughter would announce to everyone who'd listen, "The baby is going to come out of mommy's VAGINA!"

:P

2. Great story j!
I'm surprised they're still speaking to you. They have to know this kid adores you, and where he would have heard all the conflicting information.

I think this is awesome. If all of us could make such an impression in the life of a child, the world would be a better place!

I wish I'd had somebody do this for me when I was that age!

5. Awesome!
And think! You didn't just help create a new Democrat, you saved the world from another Republican!
