Drudge saying WINTER STORM predicted for BIBLE BELT on Election Day.
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 10:46 PM by gauguin57
Don't bother going over there ... he just links to a bunch of weather maps only a meteorologist could love.

If this is true, I just don't even know what to say. Isn't Pat Robertson praying hard enough? Isn't Dubya?

11. Would not help Kerry
The myth at least is that bad weeather will hurt african american turnout the most.

but then again the South is pretty solidly red so ot probably has not major impact except for a majority vote overall for Kerry.

24. Yeah?
Well, I heard on the radio from the chairwoman of the NAACP in Memphis, TN, that they registered 10,000 - nope, not a typo - 10,000 African-American voters in the Memphis area- ALONE. She said the NAACP is non-partisan but added that roughly 90 percent vote Democratic.

AND... they are providing rides and GOTV like there is no tomorrow.

And these are NEW voters... even if only half vote, hey... they're not on the radar... :P

47. Plus a lot of Hispanics
Believe it or not, Memphis now has Hispanics ranging in number from 100,000 to 150,000 (in a city with about 1.2 million people. Statewide, the numbers are about 500,000 to 600,000. A lot of these folks are not naturalized yet, but their numbers are significant in a state of our size.

A friend of mine who has been registering voters tells me that the number of Hispanics registering to vote in Memphis is VERY encouraging.

7. Problem
It looks like the storm stretches north into Wisconsin and Michigan. We can ill afford to have low turnout in these spots, but maybe crappy weather will deter the rural voters. I hope we have a good plan to weather-proof our GOTV work.

Though, a lot could change in the meantime. I think Dems have a fire in their collective belly that hasn't been seen in a generation. I think that anything short of a plague of frogs will not deter these motivated voters.

I live in the heart of the Bible Belt, and our weather is predicted to be in the mid to high sixties on election day. Maybe some rain, but nothing even remotely like a winter storm.

Drudge is desperate. And on crack, sounds like. LOL!

The most significant winter storm on election day will be the coke Dubya starts sniffing, getting his jaw a griding, along with a steady diet of Pretzels and Jack Daniels as the psychopath tries to drown out and coke out his sorrows of his blow out loss.

to the discussion section...hard to decipher but from what I gather, it's only a possibility of precipitation in the Ohio and Mississippi river valleys. The probabilities are in the 35-40% range.....

<http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/610day/fxus06.html>

Also remember that anything more than 72 hours is pure climatology....not terribly accurate.
