THE KERRY CAMP NEEDS A NEW TALKING POINT! ...
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 11:02 AM by mzmolly
BUSH kicked out weapons inspectors BUSH chose war over containment BUSH is RESPONSIBLE for the missing weapons REGARDLESS.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/26/iraq.explosives/index.html

Prior to the Iraq war, the high-grade explosives at Al Qaqaa had been under the control of IAEA inspectors because the material could be used as a component in a nuclear weapon, IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said. IAEA and other U.N. inspectors left the country in March 2003 before the fighting began on March 19.

Edited to add, Rethuglicans seize on small details to derail us from the greater points ... it's a tactic abusive people use all the time. The trouble begins when WE fall for it.

Bush's defense is that the troops tried to secure the area right away. They say weapons were missing when they arrived, we say nuh-ahh.

Who GIVES A CRAP?! THE BOTTOM LINE IS: Kerry was right, inspections first ... war as a LAST resort!

And, doooonch you forged it!

Agreed?

3. They didn't "leave"
IAEA and other U.N. inspectors left the country in March 2003 before the fighting began on March 19

They were kicked out by the United States, when the chimp told them basically we'd start bombing in 48 hours.

5. Bush Even Fucks Up On Safeguarding the Health of Americans Here at Home
Intelligence and morality must be equal partners in public policy, otherwise we are doomed to tragic misadventures. Sadly, the Bush Administration has no demonstrable "learning curve," and by word and deed the "Politics of Darkness" prevails.

Thousands of Americans, including young children, will perish because corporate greed and political apathy have deprived millions of needed flu vaccines. It truly is a national disgrace that could potentially kill as many Americans this winter as died during the Vietnam War.

Few drug companies invest in vaccine production because of the comparatively low profit margins. One US drug company outsourcing to England contaminated millions of vials and were shut down by the Brits. The problem is corporate greed and political pandering, not lawyers and lawsuits.

"FluGate" is a valid political issue and the poster child for Bush’’s failed leadership and corporate pandering. This crisis was predictable and totally preventable if Bush had been interested in protecting the safety of the American people. The shipment of 2.6 million doses of flu vaccine in January is too little, too late. American needs at least 40 million doses right now.

The Bush Myth Machine always refuses to admit error or responsibility as it belches smoke in a charade of Christian and family values. Bush has been selling himself like a Snake Oil Salesman with considerable success among unthinking voters who judge his words but ignore his actions which are neither Christian or competent.

Whether Americans will continue to swallow these Washington “bird droppings” is unclear. What is clear is that Bush was "asleep at the switch" on 9/11; he didn't protect us then and he's definitely not protecting us now. His administration will be infamous for Big Deficits, Big Business, Big Divisions, Big Government, a Big Vietnam in Iraq, a Big Mess at home, and burgeoning funeral home businesses. The real "wolves" are already in the White House.

8. I was just making this same point to EarlG here in the office.
You are exactly right.

The disagreement here is over two things: 1) the time when the explosives disappeared, and 2) whether US troops found them when they got there. But the answer to these questions is not relevant. Regardless of which version of events you believe, the undeniable fact is that:

IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE WAR: The explosives were all there and accounted for.

A MONTH AFTER THE WAR STARTED: The explosives were not there.

So... Weapons inspections were working. They were keeping track of the explosives and they were keeping the explosives out of the hands of terrorists.

Bush's war, however, FAILED to do these things. His war did not make us safer. It was THE REASON why these explosives have all gone missing.

The republicans are arguing that Bush is only responsible if US troops got to the explosives and then left them unguarded. If you stretch this argument to it's logical conclusion, Republicans are saying that if US troops had waited six months to visit the weapons dump, then it woudn't be Bush's fault if the explosives disappeared during that time.

This is ridiculous, of course. The purpose of the war was to keep weapons out of the hands of terrorists, but instead it has (very likely) helped put weapons in their hands. Bush's is responsible.

:toast:

Why do we let them derails us with their garbage?

I made this point to CNN and the Kerry camp, though I got the machine.

See if you can't get this to the campaigne Skinner. ;)

I think I'll email the media also, but I don't have much clout, and they're probably blocking my emails by now. ;)

9. the Bush Doctrine of
pre-emptive war based on bogus intelligence is a complete and total failure.

Inciting mass anti-Americanism could never make us safer.

11. not only are we responsible for what happened after we kicked out the UN
and invaded a country under false rationales, but yesterday the WH claimed that bush didn't know about this until Oct. 15th. How many loops can one man be out of? Is he the CIC or is he loopless?

This is another failure that was foreseeable and predicted (by the CIA?), which was that Saddam wouldn't use his weapons unless he was attacked. Everyone knew this going in, so why didn't our superior military with its superior intelligence and satellite capabilities manage such a devastating liability? How can they pretend that even though they knew about this site it wasn't worth securing?
