3. Only article on NBC site says the HE were intact & sealed after invasion
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 03:01 AM by LynnTheDem
NBC report:

At the Pentagon, an official who monitors developments in Iraq said U.S.-led coalition troops had searched Al Qaqaa in the immediate aftermath of the March 2003 invasion and confirmed that the explosives were intact. Thereafter the site was not secured by U.S. forces, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

An NBC embedded REPORTER says he never saw any explosives (altho he has no training in explosives and the US military says he wouldn't know the stuff unless he was trained) but that NBC reporter's story is not on NBC's site.

Oh and the NBC reporter was with the SECOND group of US troops to Al Qaqaa, the 101st AB; the first group, 3rd ID, were there a week previously.

4. The link to the nightly news report video should be on this page...
along with the AP story which states that the explosives cache was intact when US troops first inspected it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6323933/

Note: US troops were at the site and inspected it at least a week before the NBC crew rode in with a different group and supposedly checked out the site. It's a huge site. When you see the NBC story you'd think these were the first US troops to ever reach the site. They weren't.
