Are the missing explosives the October Surprise?
Perfect timing, imo. This will dominate the Sunday news shows the last weekend before the election. It will also overshadow any last minute jabs by Bush against Kerry and puts Bush on the defensive the whole last week of the campaign. What did he know and when did he know it? We know Condi knew at least a month ago. Why was this important news suppressed?

1. I guess you'd have to ask - "October Surprise for whom?"
Seems like it's a good one ON bush, not from bush. Still early, though.

2. Oh it is ON Bush all right. No way this helps him. If it moves even
1% of "undecideds" in Kerry's direction that could be the ball game.

4. I dunno about dominationg anything.
It seems the media have already been ordered to drop it. Heven't heard a mention of them in several hours.

The big question on MSNBC now is "Will Clinton's campaigning hurt Kerry among fundamentalist Christians?" I'm sure they're right! The fundies, who, of course, were simply flocking to Senator Kerry's side will now turn on him because the evil Clenis is now officially campaigning for him.....

Oh, and, of course, there is the burning news that the Weekly Reader poll overwhelmingly supports (P)resident Bush.

6. GAAHH this is so frustrating
Any rational person would see how this breach in security which could potentially hold VERY harsh consequences illustrates the sheer incompetence of this administration. So I'm watching MSNBC waiting for Big Dog to come on and talk and they were interviewing some "undecided" voters. There was a question about whether this news would change their opinion and these two who were "leaning Bush" said that it only solidifies their choice because we need strong leadership. Are these people insane or just really stupid? Sorry, it made me really mad and this post just reminded me of it.

8. Not as such, since this was not planned by the Kerry campaign
The idea of the "October Surprise" is it's supposed to be material gathered in advance by one campaign to use against the other but only released close to the election in order to generate maximum unanswerable negativity. This doesn't really qualify.

Besides, it's not going to hurt Bush. Anyone who would be appalled by what this shows about Bush's extraordinary incompetence is already voting for Kerry.
