$8 Million Worth Of Distortions
$8 Million Worth Of Distortions

Two Bush ads full of misleading and false statements ran more than 9,000 times in 45 cities last week.

October 21, 200
Summary
Two misleading Bush ads accusing Kerry of supporting tax increases on gasoline and middle-class parents were running heavily last week. According to the Campaign Media Analysis Group of TNS Media Intelligence, which tracks TV ads in the top 100 markets, the two Bush ads accounted for nearly half of the estimated $16 million spent by Bush and the Republican National Committee during that week alone.

Both ads repeat claims we've repeatedly disputed here. They both attempt to portray Kerry as eager to raise taxes on middle-income taxpayers, which Kerry has said consistently he won't do. One ad characterizes Kerry's votes against proposed tax cuts as votes to "raise taxes," an outright falsehood...

1. You should see the utter lies on the printed material in NH
"He will raise your taxes in the first six months" they exclaim. An out and out lie - I'd kick their asses if I knew who was putting these lies onto paper - if Dumbya wins I will track them down...

From what i've seen online its gotten sooo ugly. I post on a couple non-political boards that are talking about the election and its kind of shocking. I'm not sure when out and out lying became the cool thing to do. I certainly didnt get the memo.

We live in very high-traffic tourist area with a small population of locals. It's not a hotbed of political activity around here... :)
So most of what I see is tv media and online stuff.

8 MILLION dollars wasted on lies and distortions for two freaking commercials just amazed me. I'm hoping for some big campaign reform before we have to do this again.

Not holding my breath though. ;)
