High Court Won't Put Nader on Pa. Ballot ...
Bumma'

The Supreme Court on Saturday refused to place independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader (news - web sites) on the ballot in Pennsylvania, upholding a state court finding of flawed signatures on voter petition sheets.

Nader asked the high court on Thursday to review Pennsylvania's decision to remove him. A state court cited legal problems with his nomination papers that left him thousands of signatures short of the number required for the Nov. 2 ballot.

Nader's request for a review went to Justice David H. Souter, who referred the matter to the full court. The justices on Saturday denied the appeal. Nader wanted the justices to put him on the ballot while they considered whether to hear an appeal of the Pennsylvania ruling.

The Supreme Court has not yet acted on a similar appeal from Nader involving Ohio.

2. Does that mean...
That's it's FINALLY the end of Nader on the ballot where Pennsylvania is concerned?

3. Yup.
It's all over for Nader in Pennsylvania.

Now, the next big court ruling will be regarding Ohio. I suspect that we'll get a similar ruling.

5. One big problem ... Nader's name appears on MANY absentee
ballots all across PA. Many cities and counties in PA didn't want to wait till after the original state court ruling -- so they sent out all those ballots with Ralph's name on them.

I remember reading that the number of absentee ballots used in PA in 2000 just about equalled the margin of victory for Al Gore in PA.

My county elections board, at least, refuses to print and send new ballots with Ralph's name OFF it.

Unfortunately, I have NO IDEA what all those municipalities are gonna do with those ballots -- will someone try to disqualify them because they have an illegal candidate on them? I hope not, but who knows in this crazy election?

*sigh*
