2. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to
I took my toddler with me when I voted in the primaries. Also I remember as a child (maybe grade school) going in the booth with my mom.

3. I always took my boys.
They would even give them an I Voted sticker when they were small. They now vote and would not miss the chance. Go for it unless for some reason it is not allowed but I can't imagine that.

5. I took my 7-yr-old with me
to the primaries. She was more interested in my "I voted" sticker though!

6. I would think so.
I remember when I was little my mom taking me into the voting booth with me so that I could watch he vote. It was one of those cool Louisiana voting booths, with the automatic curtain and the loud bell that would ring as the curtain opened back up after the final lever was pulled.

Thanks, Mom! :loveya:

7. Of course you can. I remember pulling that big lever in the booth...
... back when I was 10. And now I take my kids. Great civics lesson.

24.

8. I remember voting with my mom once
back in the '70s. Check with the election board first though, you wouldn't want to stand in line for an hour or two only to find out he/she can't come in with you.

10. I took mine to early voting with no complaints.
She's taken a big interest in politics for a fifth grader, despite the fact that she gets flak from some of her classmates for being a Kerry Kid. :)
I think it's healthy for the country, myself, and a hopeful sign for the future.

11. Yes! My Mom's taken me since I was 5...
And gave me the lecture about how it was important to always vote! I remember arguing with friends how important voting was when I was 11 or 12 :) It's a great idea and I'd definitely recommend doing it!

13. Maybe Not in Ohio
From what I'm reading that the American fascists masquarading as Republicans are doing in Ohio ...

They'd probably scream voter fraud ... "The Democrats are trying to let an underage person vote!"

What a sad time in our country's history that the main way one political party has to win is to stop citizens from voting.

Seriously, what a wonderful for children to see democray in action ...

14. I always took my girls
to show them the importance of voting. I even let them hold their hand over mine and help punch (we still have the punch card ballot in SW MO and have had for years.

15. Back in 1960 my dad took
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 01:42 PM by LibDemAlways
my brother, who was 5 at the time, into the booth to watch him vote for Kennedy. All was fine until he said "OK, here's how you pull the lever to vote for John Kennedy." With that the repuke pollworker got all agitated and yelled out that the child wasn't allowed in there. Harrassment of Dems at polling places is apparently a long-standing repuke tradition.

18. I have taken my son every year
since he was born! He LOVES seeing how the whole process works. We love to make snide nasty remarks when we see a repuke's name on the ballot. We giggle and laugh and have a great time voting. It's fun. He's now 11 years old. It's a great tradition and educational at the same time. Of course, on the way in he gets his yearly lecture on the importance of voting. ;)

Take your daughter! She will be happy you did and when she's old enough to vote, she WILL vote! :hi:

19. YES! You should always have your kids vote with you whether you vote in
Adavance, form home, or on election day. My sister votes form home every year. I make out "ballots" for my nieces and they get to "vote" also. I work for the campaigns so I usually take my sister's ballot in for her and I take my nieces' ballots too. They love it!
And we of course teach them to vote for Dems. :)

20. Took mine
I took my fourth grader to vote with me, he went in the booth and ushed the Kerry lever with me. He goes to the magnet school in our Tennessee town and says that, unlike Gore in 2000, Kerry has scored a spectacular win this year. Hope it is a pattern.
