Cincinnati Post endorses Chimpy McCokespoon for president
http://www.cincypost.com/2004/10/23/edita10-23-2004.html

The 2004 presidential campaign comes at a moment in our history unlike any other in the last 50 years. With nearly three generations of Cold War behind us, our leaders are struggling to define our role in a fragmenting world filled with shifting dangers, new challenges and inconceivable peril.

The old principles no longer apply. There is no playbook, no recipe for success. No clear answers. And so it is with this election.

... Despite misgivings over his mistakes, The Post endorses George W. Bush in this election.

... Our endorsement is not without reservation. We worry that Bush, who promised to be "a uniter not a divider," while rightfully pre-occupied with the war on terror, has nonetheless permitted the extremists in his party to exploit social issues for partisan purposes. We worry that he has allowed those extremists to demonize all government instead of encouraging good and robust government.

1. All these people for Bush who hope he'll do better in his second term
on things like uniting rather than dividing and learning from his mistakes...

WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY THINKING??????????????

His second term, if God forbid he has one, will not be the tiniest bit different from his first.

These assholes are fooling themselves. And that's fine, but why do they have to drag all of us down with them?

2. another half-hearted Bush* endorsement
I'm waiting for one that oozes enthusiasm for what a 'great war-time president' he is, or what a 'likable guy' the media keeps telling us he is.

Instead, all of these 'endorsements' come with so many caveats they're useless for BunnyBoy.

5. exactly.
This reminds me of two years ago when Gray Davis was narrowly re-elected to a second term as governor of California. He was extremely unpopular at that point, and the only reason why he got re-elected was because his Republican opponent Bill Simon was both a RW nutball in a liberal state AND a monumentally incompetent candidate.

All of the papers which "endorsed" Davis at the time did so only very grudgingly, with no enthusiasm and with full acknowledgement of his faults. Same thing seems to apply to Chimpy now.

3. Only a mild surprise.
Usually, the Enquirer (the bigger of the two papers) gives a rousing endorsement for this year's Goebbels, then the Post pretends to like the Democratic candidate for a few paragraphs.

This means the endorsement of the Cincinnati Enquirer will probably consist of a photo of the managing editor of the Enquirer giving Bush* a hummer.

9. "Despite misgivings over his mistakes,..." The Post endorses
smirking chimp Bush in this election?

Oh, how quaint!! Nevermind that we were lied to about going to war, nevermind that we have lost over 1000 soldiers so far and the chimp has never even gone to one funeral, nevermind that our Constitution is being ripped to shreds and we will be in a total dictatorship in another four years, nevermind that we are losing hundreds of jobs overseas each day and are not creating new ones, nevermind that over 45 million Americans do not have health insurance, nevermind that our children are having to pass retarded tests instead of learning new math, science, cultures and the arts, nevermind that we are on the verge of World War III with chimp's preemptive doctrine to strike any other nations, nevermind that our vets, who have served our country galiantly unlike the chimpmeister, are having their benefits slashed, even though they deserve our utmost respect....that's all okay...gee Dems, Independents and Repubs who are voting for Kerry, where are our priorities? Maybe we're missing something here? Do we want for more years of this or a positive change? Hmm, this is a tuffy...despite misgivings over chimp's mistakes, I'll vote for him!!! </sarcasm> Geez, Louise!!!

11. Pffft. Looks like the eds are helping chimp trumpet fear loud and clear
"in a fragmenting world filled with shifting dangers, new challenges and inconceivable peril"

whatthefuckever. Sure, if your wacky worldview is steeped in such faux anxiety, chimp-daddy is the ticket.

13. Did anybody think a newspaper in CINCINNATI would endorse Kerry?
If Cincinnati were any farther to the right, they'd be in the Atlantic Ocean.
