So, I watched the movie Day After Tomorrow last night -- can't recommend it, but let me make a political comment from it.
Spoiler Alert if by chance you want to watch the movie.
As you may know, the vice-president in the movie is a GOP Cheney-type -- really in charge, cranky, close-minded, etc. Anyway, after all the destruction he addresses the nation as the new president (The younger, more clueless president is no longer with us) and he informs the people that we have all learned a lot, etc. etc. etc.
The movie closes -- but then I began to imagine the next election -- when the repubs run for office again. And I could see their election strategy clearly.
*They would rewrite the history of the cataclysmic climate change so that people forgot that it happened on their watch *They would go to war against cataclysmic climate change *They would claim that they knew how to fight cataclysmic climate change. *They would portray the democrats as soft on cataclysmic climate change.
But it is only bad fiction, right?
