How Much Does Laura Know? Is She Smarter Than George?

Does she know that her husband is an idiot? Or is she oblivious as he is? Is love blind? Or does she dutifully keep her opinions (should she have any) to herself?

Does she know what a joke she has become? Has anyone informed her that she's becoming a caricature of herself? Does she realize that half the country thinks she's a fashion-challenged cross-eyed Stepford Wife... or is she insulated from what we think? Does her staff filter out the bad news, and only allow the good news (whether fact or fiction) to reach her?

i'm pretty sure she does know and is just being the dutiful and traditional wife that she was raised to be in midland, tx. where the women just pretty much do what they are told. it must be a difficult thing for her to do at times.

as a slight aside: little by little the theme is emerging up the news chain about the degreee to which bush may actualy belive that he is god's chosen. this is sadi to justify in his mind, that pages and pages of facts are not needed.

if you have ever had a religious discussion with a devout person trying to convert you, it is kind of like that. pointing to the bible is the ultimate defense. it is its own kind of non sequiter.

And I do think she's as out-of-touch with reality as George is concerning security and terrorism and the economy and those sorts of issues that matter. I suspect she knows he's wrong some of the time, but doesn't quite grasp what a world class git he is being. Perhaps she is medicated.

The other theory is that as soon as the cameras switch off and the doors close, she goes from being glassy-eyed and vacantly happy to being a real ballbuster. Pretty much like George W.'s mother, Barbara. Everyone has an Oedipal complex to work out, after all.
