Bush as a lame duck, how dangerous is dangerous?
Frightening to think how the neocons will do everything possible to sabotage an incoming Kerry Administration. I have no doubt that starting Nov 3 they will be devising ways for a Kerry impeachment (deja vu). Forget the pardons and the hiding of information, what major stupidity ( I know, its all relative!) will this Congress allow before Jan 20, 2005? I don't think will be at war with Iran, but provoked them to the point that war is on the brink.

1. Bush's Wish List
A Supreme Court coup is possible, although highly unlikely.

Hit Falluja really hard. I'm talkin' daisy cutter hard.

Remember that scene in Chaplin's The Great Dictator when Hinkel invites the Italian dictator? *'ll try to pull something like that when Kerry visits. It will backfire.

He'll need to do something symbolic to keep the base happy. The SCOTUS coup would be more than enough, but it can't happen. Maybe something along the lines of terrorist attacks foiled against churches?

2. I shudder to think...
Pulling all the J's, F's, and K's from all the White House keyboards would just be the start. I have no doubt he would go ahead and greenlight the invasion of Iran and Syria with no planning, just to put Kerry into an unfixable mess when he takes office. Expect a whole slew of harmful Executive Orders, just for the hell of it.

Question: Can Bush pre-emptively pardon HIMSELF, or is that beyond his power?

4. I don't believe the sitting executive can pardon himself.
There may be a loophole, though. He could resign and have his replacement pardon him. Of course, this assumes that * pardons his entire administration first.

9. I didn't think so
Nixon needed Ford to do it for him. And, somewhat to Ford's credit, he's said "I know I will go to Hell, because I pardoned Richard Nixon."

But there's plenty of other ways Bush can make sure he doesn't get nailed once he leaves. A pardon for Cheney, then a quick resignation, followed by a Cheney pardon for him, all before Jan. 20.

8. * will leave some of his cocaine hidden in the Oval Office
only to be "discovered" by a rethuglican-plant janitor. JFK gets blamed for it, setting the stage for an impeachment.

Worthy of KKKarl?

10. How dangerous - remember Poppy sent troops to Somalia while lame -

<snip>
Dec 4 - With only weeks left in his term as president, George Bush responds to the UN request, proposing that US combat troops lead an international UN force to secure the environment for relief operations. On December 5, the UN accepts his offer, and Bush orders 25,000 US troops into Somalia. On December 9th, the first US Marines land on the beach.

Bush assures the American people and troops involved that this is not an open ended commitment; the objective is to quickly provide a secure environment so that food can get through to the starving Somalis, and then the operation will be turned over to the UN peacekeeping forces. He assures the public that he plans for the troops to be home by Clinton's inauguration in January.

This US-led United Task Force (UNITAF) is dubbed "Operation Restore Hope."

12. His old man bombed Iraq and put troops in Somalia.
Failed to warn Clinton about the first WTC bombing attempt.

Pardoned Caspar Weinberger.

13. My biggest fear about his Lame-Duckiness
is that in his feeble coerced mind, he will truly believe a squeaky victory for him will be equal to a referendum on his most private and sordid desires and agendas, and he will begin to act them out, and none of his neocon criminal crowd will try to stop him.
