Pat Robertson is my new hero
Pat Robertson is an honest, decent, god fearing man. He has told the truth about Bush and his lack of war plans. Let's all thank Rev. Robertson for his honesty and candor. He is a true american hero.

24. A hero with cognitive dissonance
He's still supporting Bush, even tho his inner voice told him this was disaster. Robertson needs to follow that inner voice and not his preconceived ideologies.

Bleachers, yer cool by me but I just don't think this man has the clarity of vision necessary to qualify as a hero in the true sense of the word. In this case, we must disagree.

But, hey, we're Democrats and we're supposed to.

:hi:

At about the same point in the election, too. I suspect it's a Rovian twister, or a reminder to ante-up.

13. You're wrong: I'm with Pat on this one:
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 08:53 PM by mdguss
I don't know what Pat meant to do with his comments. I don't know his motives. I respect his faith--though I'm definately of a different denomination, I'm a person of faith and I respect all who believe. I don't know who Robertson will vote for--even if he votes for Bush (as I think he will), I appreciate his candor.

I also note a growing chorus of moderate and conservative Republicans who are suddenly coming to Kerry's side: fmr. Sen. Marlow Cook, fmr. Gov. Elmer Anderson Fmr. Gov. William Milliken. Then there was Sen. Chafee who plainly said he wasn't going to vote for Bush (he didn't endorse Kerry). Marshall Wittman's piece in the New Democratic Blueprint.

The thing I conclude is that many people have concluded that we need to be unified as a country again. They've decided to do the honorable thing and cross-party lines to support John Kerry. They may not agree with him, but they may hope (and believe) that he can bring the country and the world together. They may have concluded that George W. Bush has failed in bringing people together and therefore they've decided to vote for Kerry. That spirit of bipartisanship must be honored in this troubled time. It's the only way things will get better. I voted today: I voted for Kerry, Barbara Mikulski, and for my Republican Congressman (Roscoe Bartlett, who I've never voted for before, as a gesture of supporting an effort to bring people together).

I don't know what Rev. Robertson's motivations are. But I respect his faith and his candor. Hopefully, President Kerry will lead us towards a world in which we understand what we have in common.

Pat's speaking out about having misgivings about the war is brave and honest. I respect that. I rarely agree with everything anyone says.

17. I wonder.
Some tiny speck of conscience in Pat Robertson from his hours of rationalization and moralizing was a little bit uncomfortable listening to * callously dismiss American lives. If I recall correctly Robertson father was able to get Pat out having to serve in Korea. Somewhere deep down through rusty doors there is a speck of conscience, something that is totally lacking in Bush. Bush is lacking this quality in any measure. He is living in a major delusion and many qualities of a Sociopath.

What is truly scary is that both of these people really believe they are in touch with their *god (*whatever that is). I never considered before that for Robertson this may not be just an act to bilk the elderly and gullible out of money and influence. That he may truly have a touch of understanding is unsettling.

It confirms for me that George Bush is easily the most dangerous human to inhabit the planet.

he said. He says he believes that bush is a Godly man. Yet, Pat as a socalled Godly man, warned * about the folly of invading Iraq. Pat claims that God actually revealed to him the folly of invading Iraq. Bush claims that God wanted him to invade Iraq. The ensuing mess would indicate that Robertson's version of what God preferred was correct, whild *'s version is wrong. Yet, Robertson still says that God is guiding *????? What kind of sense does that make????? If God was guiding bush, wouldn't * be right and Robertson wrong????

29. Praise Jesus for Pat! (and here's why)
If Pat IS lying, then he only discredits himself (Junior can't POSSIBLY be any more discredited in this war) and as a result, the "Christian" Coalition loses faith in their Supreme Leader.

If Pat is telling the truth, then the rabid right is forced to choose Pat's word over Junior's. And then they'll be forced to agree with the bumper stickers they've seen for months.

Bush LIED. Thousands DIED.

And moreover, he didn't even give a shit that they would die, and furthermore claimed GOD's blessing on the whole mess.

Either way creates the dilemma for any Christian Right voter with anything resembling a conscience. And the outcome doesn't look good for Junior. Or even Pat.
