Snipers used at Bush/Cheney Rally to take out protesters out
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041016/NEWS09/410160329/1056

One of the latest incidents came when John Sachs, 18, a Johnston High School senior and Democrat, went to see Bush in Clive last week. Sachs got a ticket to the event from school and wanted to ask the president about whether there would be a draft, about the war in Iraq, Social Security and Medicare

But when he got there, a campaign staffer pulled him aside and made him remove his button that said, "Bush-Cheney '04: Leave No Billionaire Behind." The staffer quizzed him about whether he was a Bush supporter, asked him why he was there and what questions he would be asking the president.

"Then he came back and said, 'If you protest, it won't be me taking you out. It will be a sniper,' " Sachs said. "He said it in such a serious tone it scared the crap out of me."

Sachs stayed at the event, but he was escorted to a section of the 7 Flags Events Center where he was surrounded by Secret Service and told he couldn't ask questions. "I was just in a state of fear," he said. "I was looking at the ceiling and I didn't know what to expect, I was so scared."

Ronayne said he wasn't aware of what happened to Sachs and declined to comment further. "To the best of my knowledge, no one's lives have been threatened at an event," he said.

Sachs' situation is the latest in a string of stories in which Iowans attending Bush campaign events said they've been made to feel unwelcome.

1. * is a COWARD. He is so scared of dissent; you could see it in his
'performance' in the debates. He's been so sheltered from anything but adoring crowds (where the fuck do they find all these mutant sheep anyway??) that he cannot handle tough questions. Just look at how few press conferences he's had...
He's a chickenshit. Plain and simple.

3. Whoa, now they're scaring kids by threatening them with being shot
by a sniper?

Can't find a nastier crown anywhere on earth the a bunch of bush* supporters waiting for their daily fix of bullship and delusional behavior from their fearless leader.

5. I wish they would shoot someone for
protesting. Not kill them, mind you, just shoot them through the shoulder or something. Kerry would win in a landslide.

7. bush* keeps snipers on White House roof 24/7...pointing guns at tourists

when I walk around near the White House, I point that out to the tourists, and then they LOOK UP and RUN with their children....it's sad, so sad....

it's incredibly stupid to keep snipers on OUR White House roof 24/7 pointing guns at the tourists.....the White House is ALREADY the most protected place on the planet, and the snipers are just to add FEAR to the tourists....

mainly because of the snipers, and will remain there during the Kerry presidency. The snipers add fear to terrorists, as well as tourists (though I'm not sure why).

Running from the WH because there are snipers on the roof seems kinda silly, what else are you telling these tourists?

15. The * campaign takes snipers to campaign events/rallies.
A * supporter student of mine told me that she saw them while attending a rally in Colorado. They're typically up on rooftops.

8. WTF!
This is Outrageous! I don't give a rat's ass if Kerry mentioned Mary Cheney! I don't even care bout Kerry's commitment in VN while he was there or after he returned with regard to this election! I don't even care that the chimp went awol, though I think it speaks directly to his character! What I do care about is crap like this! The chimp is trying to suppress our freedom of speech, that much is clear! But even more than that, he is trying to suppress it with violence toward anyone who would speak out against him. Clue phone here Georgie, This isn't a dictorship, no matter how much you want it to be! Gawd, get him out before he harms us all!

9. chimp wouldn't dare speak before an "unvetted" audience
There would probably be a riot. A significant slice of the population really hates the chimp with a passion and they know it.

I'd think they'd take it a face value.

12. And he belived this?
Sorry, but nobody with common sense would think that a sniper is going to take them out for protesting.

Are 18 yr olds usually this gullible?

16. It probably doesn't help that there are indeed snipers present,
whether or not the kid thought they would shoot him.

18. so sad.
I remember going to a BUSH sr. rally held at my high-school in IL. I was a young punk, with a mohawk, and still had no problem getting in with a friend. He and I screamed mid-way thru * sr.'s speech and were escorted out. All that has changed. These are scary times. No voice unless you fall in line....Kerry should make clear what is happening at * speeches. It's UN-American.
