Pfizer refuses to pull advertising from Sinclair Broadcasting

Subject: RE: Sinclair Broadcasting

Dear Citizen:

Thank you for visiting the Pfizer Corporate Citizenship website. On behalf of Pfizer, Dorothy Wetzel, Vice President of Consumer Marketing Group, has asked me to respond to your e-mail regarding your concerns about Pfizer advertising on Sinclair Broadcast Network.

Pfizer buys advertising on national networks like ABC, NBC and CBS that Sinclair airs, and occasionally on local stations. Decisions about placing our advertising are guided by what programs are most likely to reach people who might benefit from messages about our medicines and the diseases they treat. We do not participate in, or control, the programming decisions made by specific networks or stations. As such, our advertising placement with a network is not in any way an endorsement of programming decisions.

We value your opinion and truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to express your thoughts to us. We hope this clarifies any concerns you have about our intentions as an advertiser.

Yours truly,

Pfizer Corporate Citizenship

Has anybody heard whether they are going to refund the money for their "Sr. discount" drug cards since they are not honoring them anymore? Assclowns!

Pfizer donates alot of money to the current administration. We expect to profit handsomely in return.

We value your opinion and truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to express your thoughts to us. But we really don't care about you, were only in it for the money.

Yours truly,

6. Depression meds
They will sell a lot of those to this crowd. Also, may want to take out your name and any other info because of Freepers.

7. Viagra should do well during the "Stolen Honor" show
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 04:11 PM by high density
They should sponsor the program exclusively and have one of those 3 minute super ads to start off the program. Kind of like Ford did during those "ad free" premier episodes of "24."

9. Force advertisers to pull out ENTIRELY
Sinclair is not running ads during this GOP ad anyway. They're not offering anything if they claim they won't run ads during this piece.

Sinclair has ordered all 62 of its stations to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal" without commercials in prime-time next week, the Washington Post reported, just two weeks before the Nov. 2 election.

10. IMPORTANT: See attached release criticizing Pfizer on Sinclair issue
For what it's worth: Pfizer has refused to distance itself from Sinclair and the anti-Kerry documentary. This is a page highlighting that issue. If you think it'll do any good please forward and/orpost it with no restrictions. I realize this is only one of many sponsors (but, they are huge!), but it's a start perhaps. I thought it would not only put Pfizer in a position to make a decision, but also add an increased financial burden to Sinclair's financial woes.

I HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME TODAY. IF YOU THINK THIS WILL ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE, PLEASE POST IT ANYWHERE ON DU YOU CAN, PLUS OTHER SITES WHERE THE SINCLAIR ISSUE IS VISIBLE.

This is in response toa DU forum post at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1122087
