Kerry campaign wants to know if Pat Robertson is telling the truth
or is he lying about the Prez saying there will not be any casualties in the Iraq War.

They just reported this and showed the clip from Paula Zahn's show on CNN's Inside Politics.

1. With all due respect to KE04, why in heck would Robertson lie about this?
Considering that Pat Robertson is a big supporter of George W. Bush, what possible reason would he have to make something like this up?

the real question is this:

Is our President deranged?

5. The point is to force Bush* to answer the question.
It's like that old Q: Have you stopped beating your wife?

Answering no says you beat your wife.

Answering yes means you used to beat your wife.

It's rare that such an opportunity as this Robertson one comes up so close to election day.

13. Hopefully, this is going to start getting some play today. This is
the first time I say the actual clip and it doesn't look good for Chimpy.

Robertson was also talking about how supremely confident and at ease Bush seemed with his decision while Robertson was going "I'm really worried about this".

I know Begala is going to play it on Crossfire today (he said he was when he was on Imus this morning).

A 527 should put it in a commercial.

6. Of Course That Godly Man Is Telling The Truth, Ma'am
There can be no doubt about it, as the quote jibes too well with the level of naivete and ignorance concerning combat among the criminals of the '00 Coup. It is also proof, as if any further proof were needed, that the criminals of the '00 Coup knew perfectly well there were no stocks of chemical or biological weaponry in Hussein's arsenals, and lied knowingly when they stated such existed....

"The eagerness of green troops for combat is not to be greatly relied on."

8. Telling the truth about what?
The "no casualties" thing, or the more self-serving bit of bullshit that Robertson "warned" Bush against going to war against Iraq?

Because if you accept one as true, you have to accept the other as true, and I don't know if I can wrap my mind around the bloodthirsty Robertson being against an imperial war . . . unless he was getting cut out of the profiteering.

===============================

BUSH MISLEADS ON CASUALTIES IN IRAQ

The president has told the American people that he expected persistent violence in Iraq. On Feb. 8th, 2004, Tim Russert asked President Bush: "Are you surprised by the level and intensity of resistance?" Bush replied, "No. I'm not."<1> According to Pat Robertson, there is no way that could be true.

Appearing yesterday on CNN, Robertson said that just before the war he "warned him about this war...I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.'"<2> Bush then told Robertson, "Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties."<3> More than 1,100 U.S. troops have died in Iraq and another 8,000 troops have been wounded.<4>

16. He said this to bolster the chimp
He was explaining how Bush is so wonderful because he was a man of prayer, with great moral conviction. He thought that Bush's resolve, even when Pat was trying to tell him otherwise, was a sign of great strength. This is typical Pat Robertson bs for explaining away their faith-based reality. Only this time he blew it and he just gave the Dems a great big nail for W's coffin.

how God can be talking to Pat Robertson and * telling them to invade Iraq and kill those folks, and at the same time God can be getting radical Islamists to bomb skyscrapers, blow up commuter trains, and slaughter school kids.

I'm confused how God got into all this stuff anyway. Maybe everybody should quit blaming God for their own wickedness.

17. well according to Robertson
God talks to him all the time, (they have a nice chat over tea and bisquits)

and according to bush* God told him to invade Iraq -- (God also talks to him over PB&J sandwiches)

so the next questions are -- Did God tell Robertson there would be casualties? or Did God tell bush* there wouldn't be? Did God talk to both of them and lie to one of them? or are either of lying about talking to God in the first place?

wonder how they are going to spin out of this one....

WATERLOO, Iowa, Oct. 20 /U.S. Newswire/ - Kerry-Edwards campaign advisor Mike McCurry issued the following statement today in response to reports that President Bush told Pat Robertson that "we're not going to have any casualties" in Iraq :

"We believe President Bush should get the benefit of the doubt here but he needs to come forward and answer a very simple question: Is Pat Robertson telling the truth when he said you didn't think there'd be any casualties or is Pat Robertson lying?"

Aired October 19, 2004 - 20:00 ET

ZAHN: He's been posed repeatedly in debates, what mistakes have you made? He's been asked that on the campaign trail and he hasn't come up with any.

ROBERTSON: I met with him down in Nashville before the Gulf War started. And he was the most self-assured man I ever met in my life.

You remember, Mark Twain said, he looks like a contended Christian with four aces. He was just sitting there, like, I'm on top of the world, and I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, Mr. President, you better prepare the American people for casualties.

Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties. Well, I said, it's the way it's going to be. And so, it was messy. The lord told me it was going to be, A, a disaster and, B, messy. And before that, I had deep, in my spirit, I had deep misgivings about going into Iraq.

ZAHN: You just told me...

ROBERTSON: Yes. Yes.

ZAHN: As I asked you that question that you wished the president had admitted to the American public he's made these mistakes.

ROBERTSON: Well, sure.

ZAHN: Why don't you think he has?

ROBERTSON: I don't know this politics game. You can never say you're wrong, because the opposition grabs on it. And, you see, he admitted he screwed up. And so I don't know. But...

ZAHN: But, as someone who has run for president, you know this game better than just about anybody.

ROBERTSON: Oh, yes.

ZAHN: When you felt that you had the lord telling you that this was going to be a very bad thing to go into Iraq and you warned the president about it, he seemed to be dismissive.

ROBERTSON: Well, I warned him about casualties.

ZAHN: Of the casualties.

Where do you think that came from? Do you think he got bad advice? Do you think he was ignoring some of the advice he had gotten? What is it?

ROBERTSON: I just think he was so sure that this man was a tyrant, he was evil and he needed to be taken out. I mean, he just felt it.

Of course, he had advisers, the so-called neocons, around him that said, Mr. President, go get him, and we will liberate these oppressed people.

ZAHN: There are a lot of neoconservatives...

ROBERTSON: Yes.
