"Since you hate trial lawyers and lawsuits so much, why don't you sign this pledge not to file any suit after we win?" Of course, it would be even more fun for Gore to do this, but it would be harder for Bush or the media to ignore if it were Edwards. In a stroke, this would rebut their attacks on Edwards and 'lawsuit-happy Democrats', remind voters of the stolen election of 2000, and force Dubya to defend himself for his part in stealing it. Seems pretty can't-miss to me.

3. Then they say they would sign
under the contigent that we sign a similar agreement.

And if push came to shove after the election neither side would honor it and in the end it would be worthless.

6. The point is not to make anyone actually sign a pledge;
the point is to make them squirm for stealing the '00 election, and blunt the "lawsuits drive up medical costs" accusation as a bonus.

5. Excellent idea!
The chimp was the first to run to the courts in '00. Then turned around and said Gore was. A liar for all time!

The lawsuits have already started:

Parties File Suits Over Election Issues

By DEBORAH HASTINGS
AP National Writer

A new political strategy has emerged in this photo-finish presidential race: File a flurry of lawsuits before the first votes are even tallied.

From Oregon to Florida, Democrats and Republicans are firing away at such issues as touch-screen voting machines and provisional ballots. The lawsuits represent a hard-learned lesson from 2000: do not wait until all the votes are counted to go to court.

"I have never seen this level of concern about an election," said Laughlin McDonald, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Voting Rights Project.

Others believe the legal wrangling may serve only to damage the voting process.
