Robertson: I warned Bush on Iraq casualties

President's response: 'We're not going to have any'

NEW YORK (CNN) -- The founder of the U.S. Christian Coalition said Tuesday he told President George W. Bush before the invasion of Iraq that he should prepare Americans for the likelihood of casualties, but the president told him, "We're not going to have any casualties."

Pat Robertson, an ardent Bush supporter, said he had that conversation with the president in Nashville, Tennessee, before the March 2003 invasion. He described Bush in the meeting as "the most self-assured man I've ever met in my life."

"You remember Mark Twain said, 'He looks like a contented Christian with four aces.' I mean he was just sitting there like, 'I'm on top of the world,' " Robertson said on the CNN show, "Paula Zahn Now."

"And I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you had better prepare the American people for casualties.' "

3. "We're not going to have any casualties." - UnBelievable
When I was int he Army, even relatively small training exercises (a few thousand soldiers over a few days) you could almost guarentee at least one life threating injury. If Bush really said this he's smoking some very fine stuff.

6. More like snorting some really fine stuff. That would explain
his attitude that day with Robertson. (where's the coke-snorting smilie anyway?)

5. Hope Kerry brings this up on the stump today
Also, I guess Pat and AWOL talk to different Gods. Here's what Pat's God told him:

"I mean, the Lord told me it was going to be A, a disaster, and B, messy," Robertson said. "I warned him about casualties."

8. How about a friggin poll on that remark
If it was ok to spend 5 days polling people whether or not it was appropriate for Kerry to mention Dick's OPENLY gay daughter...how about a poll on CNN questioning whether a statement like this disqualifies * from the job of President of the United States.....(it does, by the way, this statement borders on delusional and really highlights Chimp's mental capacity to lead, or mislead as the case may be.)

This AM on Imus...after Imus told Begala the same thing Jon Stewart did, basically, that Crossfire sucks....Begala then went on to mention this Bush Iraq remark and he says he will play the tape of Robertson talking about it later today on Crossfire....

That's all i have heard so far!

13. CYA
I think ole Pat is saying hey, its Bush's idea to go to failed war, don't blame God. Intereting how the rats are bailing off the sinking ship. Even Brent Scrocroft says Chimpy and Condi area disaster. he couldn't say that without 41's knowledge. Robert Altman in the WSJ says today CEOs are telling him our trashed image abroad is hurting business.
