Poll question: Who do you prefer in this three-way race?
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 01:22 AM by Bleachers7
Please assume that all candidates have withdrawn except Dean, Clark, and Edwards.

Whom would you choose?

One of our fellow DUers wanted this polled.

3. What would be the point?

"None of the above" has never won an election.

Oh, I see you got your wish. Well, I hope you won't stay home in November.

4. Um, the question is "who do you prefer".
I'd assume the question is asking who you like the most (or hate the least) out of these three. I'm sure you have a preference, no?

8. So if one of them were the nominee, you wouldn't vote for them?

10. Nope
Because under all three I would still be sent to die in some hellhole because they figure that an American is a second class citizen in their own country and an American is not a priority.
I see absolutely NO DIFFERENCE!

11. So you'd support Bush by not voting against him?
That IS what a no-vote is. By not voting against Bush, you'd be helping to insure a second term.

12. OH PULEEZE!!!
The lesser of two evils is still evil and I will not give it license by "endorsing" it or "voting" for it:grr:

14. Ordinarily sound logic, but it doesn't apply in elections.
Refusing to vote for "the lesser of two evils" actually helps the "greater of two evils" succeed because one of them must win.

15. ...so is Iraq the only issue you care about?
if your choices are Iraq + tax cuts for the rich vs. Iraq + no tax cuts for the rich, you see no value in going with a better tax policy?

I personally don't think of myself as so important or influential that my vote is an "endorsement" of anything. When I vote I simply make a pragmatic choice for what would be better in my mind.

No matter how small the difference between the candidates, a 1000 mile journey begins with a single step, and I'd rather step forwards than backwards even if it's a tiny baby step.

16. To me it is no more than

contorting myself, breaking my back compromising to get less than nothing in return. It's nothing but a downward spiral.

Another poster put this up on DU in the last two days:

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2004/jan2004/dean-j12.shtml

According to an analysis of Internal Revenue Service data, the average income for the bottom 90 percent of the population rose only 1.6 percent during the 1990s, compared to an 89 percent increase for the top 1 percent.

1.6 measly percent from bust to boom. That means that the ordinary person took anywhere from a 10% to 15% paycut should inflation be added in...and this is in the BEST of times.

on edit: this is the future of all of the "good times" in this country.

9. I support Clark but
no real problem with any of those three (though I don't like Edwards' stand on Iraq as being necessary, but I did vote for him).

If Clark does not get the nomination, I will vote for the Democratic nominee in the General election.

18. All three of those candidates are great choices! But
I would choose Clark because he has the best chance in the GE.

Yet, I would be delighted to have any of those three men as my president. :)
