1. I have considered this, but am a little worried about one thing.
I think that WHOEVER is president next, repug or dem, is not going to be able to make it through the next 4 years without raising taxes for the middle class. I just don't see how it is possible. I also do not see how either side, rep or dem, can prevent another attack within the US. Regardless, it will be an undending source of political ad fodder for the other side when the next election comes around. SOOO... whoever is in the white house during the next 4 years I believe is going to be commiting political suicide. Kerry at least will stem the destruction that Bush is currently trying to put in place, but for how long?

4. I agree...
Regardless of who takes office next, by the time their term is done, they're going to have a low approval rating... there just might be too many lemons to make lemondade. I hope I'm wrong.

5. I Don't Think Kerry Will Break His Promise
He might wait until his second term. I do think he may raise taxes more on the uppr 2%.

6. Yes, I think he will most definetely put through his
legislation for those who make above 200K (good), I am jsut worried that the current folks have dug us into such a HUGE hole that no matter what he does, it will come off as not enough. I have full faith that he can do better than AWOL (how could one possible do worse), but he is entering into SUCH a ruin...

10. Kerry's Promised to Roll Back the Bush Tax Cuts
for those above $200K. He hasn't proposed raising it above the Clinton level, but he might need to eventually, unless he starts spending less on the military.

Personally, I think he can cut the defecit in half by 2008 assuming good economic growth. That's really the key.

19. You know there are some people who make over 200,000
that are good Democrats. Your (good) remark about Kerry putting thru his tax hikes for that income group is offense. Most of the Dems in the county I live in make over that level and they have always stated that they never wanted the tax cut in the first place. Most who make that much have write offs and I've always contended that if you are paying the max in taxes you either have a stupid accountant or you are lazy. The real tax changes need to be in the Corporate welfare. I'm glad that tax relief will be for those who make less than 200,000, this is where the economy is stimulated, in the economic group who is doing more than living paycheck to paycheck. Meanwhile hopefully the economic group who are living paycheck to paycheck can gain some breathing room from a kerry administration.

20. When the time comes for me to make over 200,000
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 03:00 PM by shylock1579
then I will know that this great country has provided me with wonderful opportunity, without which I never would have reached that income level. Time for me to pay my dues. I've never taken issue with paying my taxes, and never will.

I take it you are easily offended?

3. hopefully. However,
historically the people seem to not let one party monopolize the White House for very long. It would be atypical for us to have--8 years Kerry, 8 years Edwards, 8 years Obama. 24 years in the White House would be historical. But who knows? We can dream...

7. Edwards won't 'get' to be President. I hope he loses in 2012.
Edwards is a lukewarm politican at best. He has done very little for the campaign and I think he would make a medicore president. Plus, people won't stand for one party to be in office for so long. I would want to see Edwards win the primary in 2012, lose to a Republican (hopefully a moderate) and then Obama runs in 2016 and serves until 2024.

8. I sort of agree..
Edwards doesn't impress me too much. I'd much rather see some other qualified Dem to go for office in 2012.

14. Unfortunately, unless you live in a swing state, you probably haven't
And too many DU'ers who live in a solid red or blue state simply assume, incorrectly, that Edwards isn't doing anything. The fact is, Edwards is getting plenty of coverage in local markets in swing states. A lot of this is under the national radar, but it is critically important.

13. This has got to be one of the most uninformed posts I've seen
in a long time.

Just because you haven't seen much of Edwards doesn't been he's sitting on his ass. He's been out there campaigning in swing states and getting local news coverage. That's free media.

Besides, it's just plain lunacy to suggest that losing a presidential election is a good thing. I heard that argument made by quite a few lefties in 2000. Those people are looking pretty damn stupid right now.

17. I don't care right now.
Trust me, in eight years (hopefully) I will care as much as anyone, but for right now ALL I can think about is getting the current President so far out the door that neither he nor his family ever have another sniff at the White House.
