Should we bring up the issue that abortion rates have risen under Bush?
It's common sense that abortion rates mirror poverty rates. Bush speaks about promoting a 'culture of life', but his anti-middle class policies have led to increased poverty and decreased access to health care.

Someone else posted this ltte from a pro-lifer, which really sums up the problem:

I think we should make more of an issue out of this. There are many moderate pro-lifers who understand that outlawing abortion is extreme, but who are interested in making abortion as rare as possible. This is just another example of Bush's hypocrisy.

1. While simultaneously noting, of course, that they dropped under Clinton.
I think it's a valid point. Might keep a few fundies at home on Nov. 2nd.

7. Yes, it's simple mathematics.
If people are too poor to raise a child, they may opt not to have the child. Many people are too poor to even HAVE the child in the first place. They can't afford to miss work, they can't afford the hospital visits. . . so yes. Poverty does breed abortion. It's not the only cause, but it is one of them.

3. Why, it's not the Fearless Leader's fault!
It's that damn Republican Congress not letting him get anything done. Oh, and that Republican-dominated court system that keeps overturning all of his decrees!
