Poll question: Clark Supporters: do you want Kerry to drop out and endorse the Gen?
Kerry will finish third in New Hampshire. An embarrassment of gigantic proportions for someone from Massachusettes. No one from Massachusettes has ever lost the New Hampshire primary, never mind come in third.

But latest polls have Clark trailing Dean only 9%. Kerry's support is still at about 13%. If Kerry really believes that Dean can't win...blah, blah, blah, should he drop out and endorse Clark?

If Dean stumbles in Iowa and Clark wins New Hampshire. Dean's candidacy is dead in the water.

1. I'd vote for
Kerry should stay in as long as he wants to -- I don't see any reason why he should drop and support anyone at this juncture.

4. If, when Kerry drops out..I agree.
I'd rather have all of the candidates who drop out hold their tongues and support the nominee. Let the process play out on its own.

41. I feel you Kathleen
I think we all need to bow out gracefully if our candidate doesn't get the nomination and support the one who does. Our main goal is to defeat Bush. Correct?

3. I'll take any supporters who come our way
but it is a Kerry campaign matter. Kerry should run as long as he can unless the support just isn't there.

6. Kerry should drop out if he finishes lower than 2nd in NH
of course, I am a Clark supporter so take my comments with the appropriate grain of salt

I did start out supporting Kerry. I really respect and admire him. He will be president one day but just not now.

13. Kerry will drop out even if he finishes second
How could he survive? Where would his candidacy get its "juice" from?

Listen the purpose of the first couple of primaries is always to weed out the long list of candidates.

Usually two or three candidates emerge after New Hampshire.

Kerry won't win South Carolina or any of those primaries.

So what will he do just hang around as a third wheel no one will vote for?

My bet, if he loses New Hampshire, he's toast.

19. As much as I'd like to see the crowd thinned a little...
they all have something to contribute. Kerry should stay in and keep fighting. If he gets the nomination, he'd be a great President. Same with Edwards, Dean, Gephardt and Kucinich.

Sharpton and Mosely-Braun have good input at the debates, but won't win the nomination. Lieberman would be a long-shot for the nomination, but would be soundly defeated by Bush. So these three are who I'm hoping will drop out after Iowa or NH.

After that, I really don't care. Narrowing the field at some point would probably be good for our party, though.

27. THis is a ridiculous poll
All Clark supporters will be extremely dissapointed in their candidate's third place finish in NH. Just keep underestimating John Kerry - it'll build on the "comeback kid" story that the media picks up on. From there, we will rollover the rest of the country.

that anyone of the candidates can vote in this poll. I think this is a stupid poll, too. Ever think it's doing exactly what it intended, to cause infighting between Kerry and Clark on DU?

As a Clark supporter, I want ALL of the rest of the candidates to drop out and endorse Clark. I'm sure die-hard Kerry supporters feel the same way.

Oh, and I STILL like Kerry miles better than Howard Dean.

33. How presumptuous of Clark supporters
to think that Clark is a better candidate than Kerry is. Although I disagree with Kerry on plenty of issues, he's a far better candidate than Clark could ever hope to be. And he has an actual record to look at and wouldn't be caught dead fundraising for Bush and Cheney. If one of the two should drop out to support the other, it should be Clark that drops out and supports Kerry, not the other way around. :eyes:

42. What are you talking about?
I'm stating my opinion that Clark sucks as a candidate. Between his PNAC connections, support for the School of the Americas and his fundraising and praise for Bush and Cheney...he sucks elephant ass. While I don't like Kerry and he's not anywhere near my first choice, he's a hell of a lot better than Clark could ever hope to be, and by God his record at least proves beyond a reasonable doubt that he is, in fact, a Democrat. Sure, he made some shitty votes, but he's still a proven Democrat, not just an opportunistic Johnny Come Lately.
