Congresswoman Corrine Brown Endorses Dean for President

WASHINGTON--Congresswoman Corrine Brown (FL-3) today endorsed Governor Howard Dean, M.D., citing his vision for America and his commitment to improving access to quality health care.

"Given that health care and prescription drug costs are a chief concern for our country, particularly in Florida which has a large Medicare population, I believe that there is no candidate that can relate to these issues better than Governor Howard Dean, a former practicing physician who was responsible for his state's Medicaid system. Governor Dean has been out in front on the real issues that matter to the citizens of this nation. He has been challenging the Bush administration on issues ranging from the war in Iraq to the administration's devastating tax cut policies. The people of this nation deserve answers to the questions Governor Dean has been posing," Congresswoman Brown said.

"I'm honored by Congresswoman Brown's endorsement today. For over a decade, she remains a dedicated servant of the people of Florida, and a strong advocate for veterans in the U.S. Congress," Governor Dean said. "She is a valuable addition to a grassroots campaign that is uniting Americans of all backgrounds to take our country back in 2004."

Corrine Brown was elected to Congress in 1992 from the Third District, which includes parts of Jacksonville, Orlando and Gainesville.

Brown, the ranking Democrat on the Transportation Subcommittee on Railroad, is the governor's sixth endorsement from a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, fifth southerner, and eighth congresswoman. She is also the first member of the Florida delegation to endorse Dean.
