I know he can't stand Bush and has a big audience. Do you think he's going to figure in the young voters ?

23. All of his clearchannel stations booted him. But months later he came back
on in every one of those markets plus 3 or so more. Over the last year or so he's added at least 5 net stations I believe.

He's on in plenty of swingstates. The only really major metro he isn't on in, at least the biggest I believe, is Atlanta, but that isnt' a swingstate.

7. Apparently he is. I don't listen to him, but he endorsed Kerry and
hates Bush because of the freedom of speech issue. They fined him for saying something that he had said lots of times before and at least temporarily got him dropped from some stations. He hates Bush.

24. he hates bush..bashes him a lot on his show...
AND he does influence his listeners..I have heard on numerous occasions when a caller calls in and says I am not voting for Bush this time dude...or "i've never voted before but I know how important it is to vote this time and to vote for Kerry"

I think he might have a small impact

25. Battering is an understatement
In addition to talking about the kind of bush expose info that is on Du, Buzzflash and other places. He out and out calls bush every name in the book and then openly taunts him to come and get him...

I don't think you can get much more blunt than that!

country. Which means his demographic is not the poor retarded, uneducated, charactature his bashers like to paint.

9. I think he is helping
I'm sure if it was not for Stern, the white male 25-34 demographic would be more heavily skewed towards Bush than it is now.

Stern went on a tear after reading Franken's book over vacation, then he got reamed by Clear Channel & the FCC in the days following after that...

He had always been wary of Bush & his religious agenda, but supported him overall due to 9/11 / Iraq / Afghanistan. However, Franken's "Lying Liars" really opened his eyes and he has come up with a lot of really good, well-informed material on his shows. I think he had even linked an article on DU once from his website.

29. I have also heard him admit that he was wrong
Not that long ago he more or less apologized for ever supporting bush in any way, shape, or form and he regularly urges his listeners to open their eyes and start paying attention to what is happening to this country.

He has also openly bitched about the Republicans that used him to get elected and has called them out as fakes and liars.

I hate to sound like a Stern cheerleader and frankly in the past I never liked him, or his show. I just thought he was a Chauvanistic money pig laughing and acting crude all the way to the bank...
but I have developed the utmost respect for him over the last few months. He is bringing the truth about bush to an audience the Democrats could never even hope to reach.

If Stern ever ditchs the strippers and fart jokes for political commentary the Conservatives are going to have their hands full because he would be a force to be reckoned with.

}( We are one of his links! }(

"George W. Bush has to go.":

"After another 15 minutes of montage, Stern finally cracked the mic to the tune of "Born In The U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. "It's the end of free speech," said Stern, expressing his dismay and shock over yesterday's vote by the House of Representatives on H.R. 3717, the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act of 2004. "It's really the end. This country is nuts and George W. Bush has to go. If you are a fan of mine, and I reach millions of people, just get him out of office. Your rights are being taken away."

"When I got into radio, it was a wasteland of people playing records and news guys not giving opinions," Stern continued. "I got on the air and changed it. I bucked the system. The reason there are freedoms on the air today is because of what I did. Period. End of sentence. I fought everyone who ever said to me, 'You can't do what you are doing on the air.' I've been fighting it for 25 years so jerk-offs like Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and the whole lot of them could get on the air and have a party. I'm all for it and all for free speech, but remember who got you there. It's not the guys who didn't take risks. It's the guys who are on the front line. Rush Limbaugh wasn't on the frontlines of Vietnam because of his knee injury and he wasn't on the frontlines of the radio industry when I was breaking down all the walls. The same with Bill O'Reilly. He was an anchorman sitting there behaving himself and then they all saw what radio could be and what television could be and what it's like to express themselves. And now they all sit idly by."

12. Stern has excoriated Bush- and his cronies....
every single day on his show for months. He has provided his listeners with links and resources for anti-Bush info on his site.

Most importantly, Howard has helped thousands register to vote through his website.

Don't underestimate the force of this man...

16. I don't have to think; I know he has
at least in the case of one of my friends. My friend is a 40 year old private businessman. I would bring in facts about George and they would be blown off as liberal spin. Then Howard gets up and says the same @#$#@ things I'd been saying for a year and a half and suddenly he becomes aware.

He still whines about having to vote for a liberal but I think he is going to do the right thing at this point.

17. at the very least, he'll take votes from Bush...
but there's no guarantee those people will go on to vote for Kerry. I have no clue how many of his listeners will be the "hate Bush but can't vote for Kerry" crowd. Having them vote for Kerry is, obvioulsy, the most preferable, but if he at least gets normally Bush voters to stay home, I'll be satisfied enough.

For those that aren't typically into Stern's usual schtick.

The news read at the end of the show is typically when Howard and Robyn talk about Bush and Howard gets quite brutal.

I am sure he has influenced voters by exposing bush for what he is
(a lying coniving POS)
