Poll question: If you could cast 1,000 votes for Kerry-Edwards...
...in what state would you cast those votes?

1. You got 3 in Ohio, I'm sharing it to cover all bases, sent them to Penn.
Even though this is a lame way to ask who is closest.

3. I drilled into this thread hoping one of the answers
available was "no." Sadly, I was disappointed, so I didn't vote in this poll.

I'm only one person, I only want one paper ballot.

4. OK - how about if you could convince 1,000 voters in any of those states
... to vote Kerry/Edwards.

Which one would you choose?

5. That's not an easy question with a quick answer.

Under your stipulation, with the additional stipulation that there are more than one of us convincing 1000 voters and under the current voting rules, I'd go with the state that has the most electoral votes:
Florida … 25
Pennsylvania … 23
Ohio … 21

If we had a popular vote tabulated as one person, one vote across all states and no electoral college ( I can dream, can't I), I'd go with the state with the highest population:

Florida … 17,019,068
Pennsylvania … 12,365,455
Ohio … 11,435,798

Interestingly, they're in the same order. Answer: Florida.

I can see, if the numbers above are reasonably correct, Ohio probably gets the most electoral votes per person. But since we're only allowed to convince 1000 people, that wouldn't even inch an electoral voter to change their vote (assuming these voters are honest) so the answer is still Florida. However, if we're allowed to convince about 450,000 voters between all of us, then Ohio is the ticket.

But how about "registered voters" relative to electoral votes? And what about turnout?

I'll let you guys and gals figure that one out.

6. Assuming those votes were counted

Florida....27 electoral votes...but since the hurricanes Bush seems to have gotten a bounce in the state polls.

That's 7 more than OH. Realistically though, I'd go with OH, because I think Kerry will win PA anyways.

7. TEXAS
It would be nice to see Bush lose his "home" state. We are going to win Ohio, Florida and PA anyway. LOL

8. Texas isn't in play though

The question is if you had the choice where would 1000 K/E votes be most effective.

It's startin to look like OH.

OTOH if there were just 1000 votes needed for K/E to win TX, I'd definetely have them win that...TX is worth a LOT of EVs.
