Overhead comments....good stuff
Two overhead comments you might find interesting...

First One
---------

at a blood drive at a Catholic Church before mass:

50 YO woman and 45 YO man:

He: Did you see the debate the other night?
She: yes...So he and the pope are infallible? He never made a mistake? Right.
both: hahahaha
He: did you know he had a walkie talkie to get answers from behind the stage?
She: Was it working?
Both: hahahaha

If you bumped into these two you would have expected they were W supporters...it was wierd.

Second Conversation
-------------------

I work in a strong/very conservative company, but not at conservative as others in the sector...i walking walking to the restroom and heard the following among a group of 5-6 40-50 yo female PMs:

1: I mean WHY are we there?
2: I'm worried about where we will have to go next
3: Something has got to change...

One of these (#3) drives a suburban with the typical W sticker on it....all five of these folks surprised me because at first glance you would almost certainly peg them as conservative w-loving types....but htere comments show otherwise..

have a great day!

The best bicycling magazine in the world runs an article about mountain bikers' best interests in the 2004 race.

2. Have nephew in law
who is a member of the Federalist Society, NRA etc. who thinks Scalia is terrific, a very staunch Catholic........ who is voting for Kerry.

His reason - the acrimony in the country, which he feels is exacerbated by Bush.

I heard the news last night and am still in shock.

3. Acquaintance I talked to today has gone from diehard Repub to undecided
I was pleasantly surprised talking to a strong Repub, Southern Baptist I have chatted with for years who brought up politics today and said he doesn't know how to vote this year. He is not the brightest guy and mentioned seeing Bush ad about Kerry planning to raise gas taxes by $.50. I told him that was not true and I debunked a couple of other outrageous Bush lies he has heard about Kerry. I told him that it is the Republicans who want to replace federal income taxes with a new 23% federal sales tax, not Democrats.

Like a lot of disillusioned former Bush supporters, he seemed open to voting for Kerry as long as he could be sure that the Bush accusations are scare tactics and untrue distortions of Kerry's positions.
