Mormon republican friend switches to Kerry
I have a good friend who comes from a large family of staunch "family values" republicans. He knows how ardent a Dem I am and basically we wouldn't talk politics much, but I had been subtlely mentioning all the things I thought Bush did wrong and why Kerry was better for a few weeks and then out of the blue the other day he greatly surprised me and said he is switching to Kerry.

I was taken aback and asked why. He said it was because Bush didn't seem to be offering any solutions to problems and was ignoring a lot of the problems too. He went on and said Kerry at least seems to be offering new ideas and solutions to the nations problems.

Then later on he explained another major reason was because Bush had talked about abolishing the I.R.S., and he works for them and that really made him angry.

His parents found out and were dismayed and he said they tried to talk him out of it, saying that Kerry doesn't share their values but he didn't back down.

I am proud of my friend and hopefully there are other republicans who feel the same as he does.

3. Western HQ used to be in Laguna Niguel or Fresno California.
I don't know if they moved it.

I'm sure there's a big regional office in Utah though. I also believe there's a service center there. (Austin is another SC)

Most larger cities have regional offices.

6. That means your service center is located there.

:D

Service centers do all the heavy duty tax form entry.

Each service center processes several states; usually 4 or 5. I worked at the one in Austin for awhile. At the time we did Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

The states they process change every few years or so. I would say Utah probably processes forms from places like Colorado, Wyoming and Nevada or similar places.

Regional offices are smaller scale. Taxpayer assistance, criminal investigation, automated collections, and more involved examinations are located in those offices.

Lesson over. :-)

12. Interesting. Thanks.
Sounds like these are the internal I.T. people who service IRS computers rather than the HUGE seasonal tax form entry force that they bring in every few months, like I figured it would be.

GOD I'm so glad I got out. It started looking bad when they wanted to get rid of birth control for women on the insurance plan but cover Viagra....things are only getting worse.
