It's the ECONOMY, STUPID! - From the mouths of "cell phone babies"
Had a nice dinner with my son (will turn 24 on Nov 3) and many of his friends in Cincinnati two weeks ago. TO A PERSON, they are all voting Kerry. All college graduates, all of them first time, newly registered voters. They all say their friends are also registered, and going to the polls for Kerry. I asked them all why, specifically, did they make that decision?

Without hesitation, each one of them...."It's the ECONOMY....It is JOBS!" These kids are pissed off! They all agreed the war was wrong, they are all scared of the draft (which each of them, young men AND women) they all know is a lurking reality no matter what Bush says if he is re-elected. These are all kids that graduated from places like Miami (Ohio) University, University of Cincinnati, Xavier (Ohio), BG, Otterbein, Capitol U. And these kids are all BACK working at A&E, the Gap, Kroger's, all places they worked in high school...and they compete for these jobs with us 40 somethings and older....they are broke, they are HIGHLY informed on world, political, social, economic, humanitarian and environmental issues. They are concerned, scared, pissed and NOT being polled AT ALL! (no landlines...affectionaltely nicknamed by their own selves as "cell phone babies."

These kids are all great young people...our future leaders. THEY hold the key ladies and gentlemen...it will be THEY that decide this election....and I am thrilled, confident and honored by that knowledge. They are the BLINDSIDE that Bush and his minions do not see coming, don't care about, and ARE NOT reaching out to...these young people have placed a large amount of faith in John Kerry....and I hope his campaign keeps reaching out to these young folks during the coming weeks.

1. And the pollsters are blissfully ignorant of them, which serves
to our advantage.

On November 2nd, my vote isn't just my own, it's also for my 7 year old.

My vote has never mattered more, and likely never will matter as much.

We're gonna win this thing for the future.

3. Kerry is easliy more focused on jobs than the shrub.... shrubs plan
for "tax cuts" did squat and corporations aren't spending the liad of cash they are sitting on (front page WSJ today).

Corps. don't think that the economy is going to be all "roses"...many reason for that.

5. My 21 year old daughter is a Hollywood makeup artist, and she says...
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 08:22 AM by displacedtexan
everyone she knows and has worked with this year has actually taken the time to register and analyze the many propositions on the ballot in CA; every single break time conversation on set has turned to politics; everyone fears the inevitable military draft (Hollywood could be shut down if the draft is reinstated, and everyone thinks George W. would work "extra hard" to see that happen).

The lines for F 9/11 were 3 blocks long every single day for weeks on end, even though it was showing on multiple screens at many theaters.

There is no apathy this year among young people.

My daughter says that even conversations at the bars almost always turn to the election!

10. Yep, exactly. My daughter just graduated in May
from G'town, and she is stuck in a meaningless temp job until December, but then she just took her LSATS on 10/2. So hopefully she's off to law school for IP.

Both gals are frightened of what another 4 yrs. of turdbrain could mean, and they have both been out convincing other kids to 'Kerry' PA.

They are also sick and tired of hearing from some pundits that they as a group are unmotivated slackers. I don't see that label at all, these kids are rearin' up to boot BUSHLER from office!

Go GEN X and GEN Y! Go CELL PHONE babies!! YEEEHAAAAWW!! -Crozet

11. My son, age 21, and ALL his friends are voting Kerry. No one he
knows, except one freeper kid at work, is voting for Bush. And my son is spending time trying to convert this clueless creature. All of them are pissed, scared, and angry. Not an apathetic one in the bunch.
