Robert Heinlein explains the lump on the Indumbent's upper back
And if I remember this novel correctly, things are only going to get much, much worse.

The Puppet Masters, Doubleday, 1951.
Heinlein's paranoia-laden tale of sluglike creatures, arriving in saucer-shaped crafts to enslave the human population by the gruesome procedure of growing into each person's nervous system from a position on the upper back of the victim, making his or her profile hump-backed (serialized in Galaxy, September, October, November 1951).

1. Except that they eventually moved
to other parts of the body when people were forced to walk around naked all the time. Besides, the thing would starve if attached to Bush.

2. Bush reminds me
of Londo Mollari,
who was himself in thrall to a Keeper.

Elric: "Well take this for what little it will profit you. As I look at you, Ambassador Mollari, I see a great hand reaching out of the stars. The hand is your hand. And I hear sounds. The sounds of billions of people calling your name."
Mollari: "My followers?"
Elric: "Your victims."

3. Another critique of this theory
Interesting idea, but, really -- what self-respecting slug-like creature would willingly grow into His Chimperial Majesty's back?

The guy would gag a hagfish!
