Freeper Voting Scripts running against all Online Poll??
Is rumor that Online Polls are now controlled by Rove hacker operatives true?? This may be a repeat. If so please link to main
thread.

From dailykos.com

"The freepers are creating scripts that submit votes to online polls, pretending to be a normal web browser, (not at all hard), then throw away the "this machine has voted" cookie after telling the server on the other end they've accepted it. This lets them vote multiple times. Even with a 30-second delay between votes from the same machine, to look legit, and avoid triggering anti-scripting measures, this can create the appearance of a massive swing in voting."

Is there any recourse.

1. Some one needs to get the web logs from these News sites

That will show the traffic on the site and where the hits are coming from.

2. I figured this is what happened
I voted in all the polls right after the debate, and all had large Kerry victory margins. I think this hacking took place later, after they figured all of us had honestly voted (because many of the places I went back to today wouldn't let me vote again).

3. I guess winning is the thing.
But must be nice to know you have to lie to make the guy your going to vote for wins even if he did not win. They seem to want this screw ball running the place.

4. I wonder if HTML email spam could overwhelm the online polls
I wouldn't know how to script it, but imagine sending out millions of spam emails in html format that, when opened, sent a vote for bush to the targeted server. The tally could be in the hundreds of thousands.

5. If you had access to the right facilities, it would be *EASY* to do...

... if someone like Rove ever told the right people to spam an online poll and make it very hard to detect, it could be done... very easily.

Online polls should only allow one vote PER MAC ADDRESS. Too bad that's not possible right now. :(

6. They don't have the resources. Or the intelligence...
... opposable thumbs are a relatively new concept to Freepers.
