HOLD ON !!!!............LET'S ORGANIZE !!!
DUers. The Sinclair grenade just hit the news today. The Kerry camp is certainly aware of it. Skinner is aware of it, and I'm sure working on it right now.

Let's let Skinner, the Kerry campaign and those with the power who are aware of this, coordinate and organize a strategy.

From what I see in the posts, everybody is in panic, flying off in different directions. Let's find out what they have decided we should do and then act on their directions.

It could be that this is a trial balloon, a trojan horse. Let's first find out what they effectively want us to do. And then ATTACK as directed.

We have time and we have the numbers. Too little, too diversifed, may not only be ineffective, it could give them the result Sinclair is hoping for.

These are my thoughts. I'm standing by for orders from Skinner. And more than ready to act.

3. I agree
a planned, measured attack will be more effective. For example, if it is decided to get F911 on one of the major networks, then that's what we concentrate on. If its a boycott, we all boycott together, etc, etc.

8. Go ahead, but
Sinclair is in my market. I don't need to wait for instructions to express my desire to local station management that they not cave to pressure from on high. I've already exressed my opinions to the local station and I'm encouraging others in this market to do the same.

If another plan develops with which I can help. I'll do so.

It's not airing tomorrow night.

We've got time and I suspect this story is going to take quite a few dramatic turns before it's all said and done.

16. "trial balloon, a trojan horse"
not really because Mark Hyman on "The Point" has been doing extended versions of 'swiftboat' smears for weeks. That alone is reason for immediate action. IMO Maybe we could begin by concentrating on these segments.

17. I have no doubt
in my mind the powers that be are organizing a plan right now, if they deem this a Kerry threat.

All actions are good. But a magnifying glass can only start a fire using the sun if it is focused in one place.

Rather than writing local stations and tipping our intent to fight this, we should wait and find out from our Kerry experts where we should focus that laser.

I remind you that a Sinclair owned station is a Sinclair o-w-ned station. Everybody is scurrying off like ants in different directions with all kinds of suggestions, who to email, who to phone.

We need to unify behind the most effective place to do the damage we want to effect. And then effect the damage !!

Call me crazy. I'm still standing by.

Here's an organized boycott with all the info already.

19. I agree
But I wonder if it might be effective to place protesters at the homes of the Sinclair owners 24 hours a day. Perhaps banging the ocassional gong during evening hours?

20. Would you like to join the First International Internet Union ?

As we know the Internet is a great source for information, whether it be about marching, protesting, writing letters and making calls, donating money to the people that are on our side, or whatever, but the Internet is scattered. There are several good liberal and leftist sights on the Net but they are not "organized" to the degree they could be. Ou purpose is to create a point in cyberspace where like-minded people could "check in" to see how many people actually agree with his viewpoints. There are never any mandatory fees. All monetary donations are voluntary (unlike Salon ).

As Howard Dean said, "you have the power." Indeed, the Doctor was correct. We have the power and it's just floating out there in cyberspace waiting to be organized...

Yes, I will be the First VP....who wants to be the President?????

Let's organize the Net !!!!!!!!

21. I say we figure out a way to not just beat this deal back---
but turn it to our advantage. Voters in swing states can't like the idea of corporate "media elites" telling them who to vote for...

Hmmmmmmm.

23. As I read it,
commandeering the public airwaves to blatantly use the time for election influencing purposes, is indisputably, incontrovertably, illegal.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Electioneering Restrictions and Disclosure Under The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), state: "funds from corporations (whether nonprofit or for-profit entities) and unions may not be used to pay for 'electioneering communications', which are broadcast, cable, or satellite communications that:

- refer to a clearly identified Federal candidate;

- are broadcast within 60 days before the general election of the candidate."

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am sure a plan is being prepared as I write. The soft spot in this October sleaze is without question the legal aspect.

I'm still standing by waiting for where and how I should direct my internet power. Then look out.
