Poll question: Is anyone here worried about Bush getting elected with the help of Dems
Edited on Sat Dec-20-03 01:54 PM by mzmolly
who are attempting to brainwash everyone into an ABD mindset???

http://www.moore-info.com/Poll_Updates/2004%20Election%20%20Why%20Dean%20can%20win%20Sept%2003.htm

It would appear from my perspective that desperate Republicans, and failing democrats have become strange bedfellows.

Edited to add: ABD = Anyone But Dean.

5. I'm more concerned
about the non-thinking Americans who will vote for someone just because the republican owned news media says that that particular person is the front runner. I think that's called "The sheeple effect." If it was an even playing field I wouldn't be as concerned, but we all know it's not. We all know who KKKRove wants to win the Dem nomination and IMCPO that person cannot beat Bush and the WH's ass kissing media is promoting that person for them, full time.

I also don't consider Clark's campaign as "failing" he is doing quite well in the campaign.

I don't understand your poll so I didn't vote.
Yes
No

arl Rove and company.

Additionally, Republicans are lying when they tout Dean can't beat *. Problem is some Dems are buying it hook line and sinker...

http://www.moore-info.com/Poll_Updates/2004%20Election%20%20Why%20Dean%20can%20win%20Sept%2003.htm

Read this and open your eyes. Dean will cream Bush in the coming election.

of your candidate and I am entitled to mine. I think Clark is a much better candidate to put up against the shrub. Dean will not cream Bush in the GE. He will lose. JMCPO I don't listen to what repukes say. They don't form my opinions for me.

if the polls indicated Wes would be a better match up. They don't. Additionally Dean has the most $$ and is bringing people who have never voted into the process-and thus aren't even factored into polling data. Additionally, Nader is an issue if Dean doesn't get the nomination.

americans who are NOT political junkies and get their information from FAUX news and CNN. Do you have any idea how many people don't know who the candidates for president are? There's a ton of people who don't know that there's even a primary coming up! They will see the republican run news while they have their morning coffee and they will vote accordingly. They don't see the seriousness of this election like you and I do. JMCPO

I have a very old friend whose father has been a Democrat politician forever. He is now the Mayor of their little town. He had a huge fundraiser for our Governor Blagojevich...he's IN politics. I saw her a month or so ago and said to her..."Guess who I'm going to meet tomorrow?" her.."Who?" Me..."WESLEY CLARK!" Her..."Who's Wesley Clark?" "He's a candidate running for prez. I use to support Howard Dean and now I support Wes Clark." Her.."Who's Howard Dean?" OK? THAT is what I'm talking about. MOST people don't follow politics 24/7 and don't have a clue who the candidates are. They will get their info from FAUX news and follow the leader. I wasn't talking about the political junkies on DU.

Dean supporters have never claimed that another Dem candidate can't win against Bush. There is a fine line between fighting for your candidate and slitting our own throats.

12. Brainwash? Too funny.
I find it hilarious that Dean supporters constantly think that non-supporters are trying to brainwash everyone.

If anyone is attempting brainwashing, it is those Dean supporters who constantly tell us the nomination and the election are over, so we should just shut up about it and back Dean.

Shouting down supporters of other candidates for having the nerve to question Dean's weaknesses in the general election is a lot closer to brainwashing than just saying we don't think he can win.

If you think I'm exaggerating, you haven't been reading recent posts on DU. "Shouting down" is an accurate term.

It is difficult, of course, for a person to see that supporters of his or her candidate just happen to do all of the same things that he or she claims to abhor and points out in others.

Maybe you should consider the possibility that some of us simply believe Dean is not the best candidate to beat Bush in November.

Maybe we simply believe that Dean is not the strongest candidate on the issues that Bush and the media will try very hard to focus this election on.

Voicing a dissenting opinion is not brainwashing.

Maybe we just want to win this election more than you do.

Clark has a heck of a lot more foreign relations experience than Dean ever will. So, how does being a Governor in one of the smallest states make him more qualified? It doesn't.

32. No one really gives a shit if a candidate served in the military
They care about things that affect them personally, like jobs, the economy, education, health care. Those are always the most important issues and they are ALL domestic policy issues. What experience, exactly, does serving in the military give a candidate for dealing with domestic issues?

Absolutely none.

41. Excuse me KaraokeKarlton...
but Clark has a Masters in Economics. He use to TEACH it at West Point and is intelligient enough to do ANYTHING to help this country. Maybe we should just keep reminding people of Dean's record. OK? This will enlighten them to who has domestic policy experience. Good or bad.

http://www.isreview.org/issues/32/dean.shtml

Dean slashed millions of dollars from all sorts of social programs, from prescription drug benefits for Medicare recipients and heating assistance for poorer Vermonters to housing assistance funds. In defending his cuts to social programs, Dean said, "I don’t think I have to shy away from that just because I’m supposed to be a liberal Democrat."8

Throughout the 1990s, Dean’s cuts in state aid to education ($6 million), retirement funds for teachers and state employees ($7 million), health care ($4 million), welfare programs earmarked for the aged, blind and disabled ($2 million), Medicaid benefits ($1.2 million) and more, amounted to roughly $30 million. Dean claimed that the cuts were necessary because the state had no money and was burdened by a $60 million deficit.9

But during the same period, Dean found $7 million for a low-interest loan program for businesses, $30 million for a new prison in Springfield, VT, and he cut the income tax by 8 percent (equivalent to $30 million)–a move many in the legislature balked at because they didn’t feel comfortable "cutting taxes in a way that benefits the wealthiest taxpayers."10 By 2002, state investments in prisons increased by nearly 150 percent while investments in state colleges increased by only 7 percent.11

Indeed, Dean’s mix of "fiscal conservatism and social liberalism" seems to be not much different than Bush’s so-called compassionate conservatism, and certainly paralleled Clinton’s signature combination of liberal "I-feel-your-pain" rhetoric with neoliberal policies.

But, the question was regarding Clarks inexperience with domestic issues.

Teaching economics does not qualify one to be President IMHO.

hmmmm. Sheds new light. Regarding the post 911 issue, Dean will have 'military' people in the cabinet rest assured. He may also choose Graham *who served on the senate intelligence committe* for VP so??

Additionally, this is also post massive Bush deficit. Dean is the best choice for the job, and the best chance to beat *.

28. The majority of the public won't pay much attention until June or later.
Till then the ones who are most attentive to these campaigns are the Dem faithful. Primaries are designed in some respects to toughen a candidate for the general campaign. Sharpen his(her)message for use against the repub opponent.

It's not a coronation. It's a nomination process which, at it's end, will hopefully energize the faithful to carry the nominee's banner to the defeat of the Repub opponent.
