Did anyone make it to Ellen Mariani in Kansas City?
The KC 9-11 visability group set up a great series of speaking occasions for Ellen Mariani, who suing the Bush gang under the terms of the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations act. There's some kind of poetic justice in that!

Unfortuneatly, I wasn't able to make the 100 mile journey to see Mrs. Mariani in KC last Sunday. Did anyone here catch that occasion? How did it go?

it was an incredible visit. I was honored to meet then spend the day in their company. It was an incredibly interesting, exciting and fun day. Lots of videotapes to sort through so stay tuned for visuals.

On their daylong whirlwind tour of engagements here, Ellen Mariani and Phil Berg visited several sites around KC. These are the places they visited in very vague chronological order: Ch 4, then Ch 9, a radio interview with Sam Mann, breakfast at Nieces, a church service at St. Marks, the Community of Reason, the Unitarian Universalists, live interview with Channel 5, big rally at Millcreek Park on the Plaza, then the grand finale event at Unity Temple.

While attending service (beautiful) at St. Mark's, they were surprised to see two police officers speaking in the room behind them. Even more surprising were the two police escort cars which followed their van from St. Mark's. They were told that that about a dozen undercovers were also watching, and several were sighted throughout the day. When approached, one young policeman said that they knew about the day's tour for over week, because they noticed an increased amounts of hits on the group website.
Supposedly, the police "wanted to keep them safe, and also watch to make sure that the park protesters did not do anything illegal'. (Hmm.) The 911Visibilty group had also hired a security guard for the biggest events, which, thankfully, ended up being totally unneccessary as there was not any trouble whatsoever.

The events were well attended thoughout the day. Between the events, the protest, and the finale Unity event, my rough guess would be that about 1500 Kansas Citians directly listened to Ellen Mariani and Phil Berg speak. Hard to say how many heard them on the three (mainstream) television interviews and the radio interview, but likely thousands. These were very excellent discussions and Mariani/Berg did a great job.

The big crowd at Unity Temple gave them loud applause and a standing ovation at the end of the discussion (between 700-1100 attendance estimates) .

This is the group that hosted their event filled KC visit:

Many Kansas Citians were inspired, and have since signed Ellen and Phil's important petition.
