8. Why is it that people expect 100% perfection from the "official" story...
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 05:59 PM by Skinner
...but they do not hold the alternative "theories" to nearly such a high standard?

Do I believe that the official story is 100% correct? No.
Do I believe that the official story is WAY closer to the truth than the conspiracy theories? Absolutely.

The conspiracy theories don't hold up to scrutiny. They are mostly a lame collection of faith-based wishful thinking.

Wondering about what happened is not qualification for disdain and ridicule. But if someone believes idiotic claims about controlled demolitions or missing airplanes -- then yes, that person is deserving of disdain and ridicule.

Except for the fact that doing so to another member of this website would be a violation of our personal attacks rule. So don't do it.

12. No, we're not going to permit a 9/11 group.
I'm absolutely opposed to the idea of creating a protected space where supporters of 9/11 conspiracy theories are officially protected from having their speculation tested by open debate.

25. So what happens when much of what some call
"conspiracy theories" are proven to be fact? Will it be hidden in the 9/11 forum still?

Just asking.

...I will personally hand you a check for a million dollars.

Comment by kingshakabobo: This particular sample doesn't specifically address 9/11 conspiracies but it makes a point about non-rational discourse)

106. C'mon people.
Get a grip. Why must everything be a conspiracy? Accidents happen.

I want very much to believe that this poll has been freeped to make us all look like morons. But the comments in this thread make it pretty clear that we are fully capable of making ourselves look foolish without any help from the freepers.

110. That's right. These ghouls are just not capable of killing their enemies..

1984 is a warning, not an instruction manual.

111. Your response can help me make my point.
Basically, you are accusing me of not recognizing the possiblity that he might have been murdered. Which seems to me to be a pretty weak way of making your case. Particularly because I did not give any indication with regard to whether I think it is possible.

Are there some people who are "capable" of killing their enemies? Of course there are. Is it possible that Wellstone was murdered? Of course it is possible. Can we think of a possible motive for Wellstone to be murdered? Sure we can.

But that all means very little. Just because something is possible does not make it true.

From the sticky at the top of this forum:

There are many beliefs and theories which are highly controversial and outside of the mainstream. Disagreement or acceptance does not make one either deliberate disruptor or provocateur. Accept this.

1. Do you agree with Skinner about everything, always, King? Does
Skinner agree with Max Cleland that "The 9/11 Commission was compromised." (Period. Not with a disclaimer like you gave in another thread..)

Thanks in advance.

2. Nice straw-man question there.
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 05:30 PM by Kingshakabobo
The question is, DO YOU think that DUers who don't believe LIHP/MIHOP fairy tales are not legitimate posters, disruptors and trolls?

THAT'S the point of this thread.....thanks for trying ignore it.

Can you, with a straight face, still make the claim that the 9/11 forum should be a safe haven for kooky conspiracy claims "to build up" uncontested??? Can you, with a straight face, say that non-CTers are "bush supporters", "trolls", disruptors and "provocateurs."???

Note: This is a question not necessarily directed at you as I haven't done a search to see if YOU are in the habit of calling OCTers the above mention names.

Note 2:"build up" was a quote from Hamdenrice's thread regarding the new ignore feature.

You'll have to ask Skinner yourself re: the Max Cleland quote ... or do a search like I did.

3. Well said again...
this forum is not a support group, and there are rules for posting here. It seems to me that the majority of banned posters over the last couple of years have been woowoo posters who can't abide by rules for civil discussion.

Yes, it gets heated. Yes, it gets nasty. But, if banning histories mean anything, it seems to be more likely that it's the truthers who make it personal.
