Palestinians kill Jewish settler, weakening truce
HEBRON, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen killed a Jewish settler and wounded several more in a
West Bankdrive-by shooting on Friday in a new blow to a faltering Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire.

The attack, the second killing of a settler in four days, followed
Israel's detention of 63 suspected Islamic Jihad militants in the West Bank and resumption of a policy of assassinating the group's leaders.

Several other settlers were wounded when militants fired from a passing car at a hitch-hiking post near the West Bank city of Hebron and shortly afterwards at a vehicle near a settlement, the Israeli army said.

"Aviad Mantzur, 17, of Otniel, died Sunday morning of wounds sustained in the Friday afternoon drive-by terror shooting near the southern West Bank settlement of Beit Haggai.

The funeral procession for Avichai Levy, the other 17-year-old who was killed in one of two West Bank shooting attacks Friday, was to leave the Beit Haggai settlement, near Hebron, at noon Sunday. He will be buried at the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem.

Mantzur's funeral procession will depart Otiel at 2:30 P.M. and he was also to be buried on the Mount of Olives.

Levy and Mantzur were killed near Beit Haggai, when two gunmen opened fire from their car on a hitchhiking station."

Settlers seek revenge in Hebron

Palestinians in West Bank town say settlers initiate “revenge spree” to avenge murder of two boys in terror attack Friday. Rioters reportedly burn stores, beat up local residents; at least two Palestinians wounded

HEBRON – Hebron reaches boiling point: Settlers have apparently initiated a violent “revenge spree” in the West Bank town of Hebron to avenge the murder of two Israeli youngsters in a shooting attack Friday.

Police are looking into Palestinian reports of riots in Arab Hebron neighborhoods that included attacks on local residents, homes, and businesses.

The violence began Saturday evening, after a Palestinian was beaten up by several settlers at a hitchhiking post. However, the situation seemed to get out of hand Sunday morning, after reports that another victim from Friday’s attack, 16-year-old Aviad Mantsur, died from his wounds.

Shortly afterwards, Hebron settlers began burning Palestinian-owned stores and businesses in the city and targeting Palestinian residents."

"The Palestinians are saying they filed complaints with the IDF but charge nothing was done to restrain the rioting settlers. Police sources confirmed settlers rioted in the city and added the assailants escaped before police arrived at the scene."
