Likud MKs seek to apply Israeli law to West Bank settlements
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/590107.html

<snip>

"t was revealed on Monday that the 14 MKs known as the Likud rebels are initiating a bill that seeks to apply Israeli law to the large settlement blocs in the West Bank. The new bill lists all the settlements that would be included under Israeli sovereignty: Ariel, Kiryat Sefer, Ma'aleh Adumim, Givat Ze'ev, Gush Etzion and the Jordan valley, totaling approximately 50 settlements."

<snip>

"The new bill states that "in (the West Bank), no political entity shall be established or recognized other than the State of Israel." The explanatory supplement to the bill states "in the disengagement plan, Israel forgoes certain parts of Samaria and the Gaza Strip in order to reinforce its holding on other parts (of the territories).

"The bill is meant to solidify Israel's legal status in the settlement blocs, concurrently with its foreclosure of the disengagement areas, in order to realize the political and settling benefits of the plan," it said."

2. So, currently PA law is applied to the residents in the settlements?
Wouldn't that be a rather strange state of affairs?

(I'll leave aside the sovereignty bit entirely.)
