well first of all, she was my favorite..as she was so many of the people I know (she had more going for her than anybody else in the show)....I believe that in the end, she too knew she couldnt win as it would mean being a part of israeli society...something she accepts and rejects as the same time...by saying she couldnt win, i mean she had to get herself disqualified, and in fact one of the judges fully admitted that he too would have done what she did, if he was in her position (not stand during the playing of the national anthem)...So though perhaps it sounds silly to those living a country such as the US or austrialian or denmark, here symbolic actions have very big implications and reverberations, both within israeli society as well as within her own arab subculture-she had no choice.
but what is clear is that she herself is the big winner in terms of her future in public projects and politics. On the other hand, she is also in between cultures and that is a very lonely place to be, rejecting the male dominated, chavanistic arab culture, rejecting the israeli militaristic culture....she doesnt have any where to go per-sea.
as far as the arabs in haifas disco district, i know very little, but here too were entering very an area of cultural differences, different discos have different cliental (russian, sephardic, askenazi....), but only those who actually know the scene really know whats going on (i havent been to a disco in over 20yrs....)
