Kassam rocket lands in Sderot
A Kassam rocket fired by Palestinians in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza landed in an open area between Kibbutz Nir Am and the outskirts of Sderot on Thursday night. No one was wounded and no damage reported.

"The rocket attack is a painful reminder of the insufferable difference between statements made by the Palestinian leadership and the situation on the ground," declared Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz. He called on Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to act immediately and prevent further attacks from occurring. Describing the incident as grave, Mofaz said such attacks were unacceptable and a situation that Israel was not willing to accept.

Security officials estimated that the Popular Resistance Committee were behind the attack.

The IDF Spokesman was unable to confirm claims by Sderot mayor Eli Moyal that the Red Dawn early warning system failed to alert residents of the incoming rocket. Moyal said he was not surprised by the attack and told reporters," I never believed that we had seen the end of the Kassam rockets. I think the situation will only worsen," he said. Preparing for the possibility that the rocket attacks on the town will resume, Moyal said "it is no secret that the terror organizations are using this period to strengthen their capability and arms."
