Visiting US Jews slam Gaza pullout
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/F043D9EE-83AA-404C-8723-E15B52F6D2B5.htm

"Dozens of American Jews toured Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday to protest against the government's plan to evacuate the occupied Palestinian territory this year.

The group of 40 people, mostly from the states of New York and New Jersey, arrived in Tel Aviv on Sunday before moving on to Gush Katif, the main Israeli settlement bloc in the Gaza Strip.

Their two-day solidarity visit was the brainchild of Dov Hikind, a member of the New York state assembly who has promised to bring "thousands" of American Jews to Gaza in July and August to obstruct the planned evacuation."

<snip>

"Among the party are bankers, two state supreme court judges and doctors - both Democrats and Republicans. Each paid $1200 for the New York-Gaza return ticket."

1. I thought Israel pulling out of the settlements
was the next best great plan for a lasting peace over there. Apparently those here in amerika who make millions of bucks selling war materiel don't want peace to break out anytime soon.

sometimes you just have to "get off the money/military hardware" point of view....because thats not the issue here.

some people simply believe that israel should stay for god and security reasons, etc

5. Rightwingers are rightwingers no matter what religion they claim
There are common aspects to all Religious Right crazies, whether we speak of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. Even a country like India has had recent incidents of religious killings, Hindus against Muslims, and Muslims against Islam. We are not that much different from other countries!

4. Dov Hikind
A fundie rabble rouser - kind of like Senator Tom Coburn or Senator Sam Brownbeck. He's is playing to his constituency.

Not "war material" - just "fundies"
