Official: Yasser Arafat in a coma
11/4/2004 10:28:00 AM GMT

Arafat’s health has been deteriorating over the past two weeks.

The Palestinian leader's top aide reported on Thursday that Arafat was in a coma and in critical condition in the intensive care unit at a French military hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated on Wednesday.

The officials, who demanded anonymity, said the Palestinian leader's health has seriously deteriorated Wednesday and he was rushed into intensive care at the French military hospital where he’s undergoing treatment.

Doctors have been carrying out tests on Arafat since he arrived in France last Friday, yet haven’t determined what caused the blood and digestive disorders, despite ruling out leukemia.

"He is in serious condition and in the intensive care unit where he was moved on Wednesday at around 5 p.m. (11 a.m. EST)," a senior Arafat aide said on Thursday.

1. good riddance
Imagine the republicans offered us 98% of what we wanted and we walked away from the table.

All of Bill Clinton's hard work for peace flushed down the toilet by him.

2. Now, we'll have to deal with Hamas direct
Well, we each worked long and hard for it.

3. I agree
I am sick of hearing Arafat apologetics. He could have at least accepted the deal and tried to bargain further from there. Now he's proven to be unreasonable and they'll never be offered anything.

4. Mmmmhmmm and imagine if before offering tha t98%
The republicans bulldozed the houses of your friends and family, killed children for throwing rocks, fired rockets into crowded streets missing their target but killing innocent bystanders, their leader allowed massacres at refugee camps while he was in the military, and bascially they treated you like subhuman garbage.

Yup. . . Arafat is a bad man, and Sharon, why he'almost as righteous as . . . . Bush.

5. Hold the phone. It wasn't Arafat who walked away
It was Barak, whose advisors were told by Richard Perle, to hold out for a Bush* presidency. And * has done nothing in this beleaguered region, while Clinton put his whole heart and soul into this effort.:grr:

14. And Clinton was the one who told the entire world
that Arafat walked away. You can look it up.

19. This is a very balanced article that I posted last year
and the source of my information. It wasn't published until June of 2003. There is enough blame to go around, on both sides, but it is a fact that Richard Perle got to Barak's advisers.

7. He's been sick for a long time, I'll admit
But who do we deal with from now on?

Of course, I am talking about peace negotiations. With George Bush* still in office, I guess that this is a non-starter.;(

20. I completely agree with you. He has been charged with war crimes,
not to mention inciting the current intifada by his walk on the Temple Mount during Clinton's delicate peace negotiations with Barak and Arafat. But he is, according to George Bush*, "a man of peace."

9. Hurry up and die.
Too bad he's going this way, instead of by a hangman's noose or a firing squad. Good riddance to a scourge upon the earth. I hate terrorist shitbags like him. He deserves no respect, no love, only the fires of hell.

There, I feel much better.
